Why Does My Immune system suck
Hi I did the surgery 3 years ago. I work at a hospital right now and I am always sick 2 weeks ago I had a double ear infection upper respiratory infecton. I felt like crap, I worked a double yesterday and had to go back to work at 11 I woke up throwing up. All My patients I think that they had the stomache virus I had to change them so much. I take my vitams also b12 once a month what can I take to fight all these infections I dont want to loose my job because I call in sick all the time. I love my job. Help me
Have you spoken to your PCP? He/she maybe able to recommend a different kind of vitamin(s) for you that will help with your immune system.
I personally take a multivitamin in a capsule that is a liquid and have been pretty healthy, with the exception of catching the flu from my 3 year old nephew over the Christmas holidays.

Hello, I'd need more info to respond....
First of all not everything that happens to baritric patients after surgery is surgery realted. Lifestyle can have a facot in there.
Share w/ us if you will what you eat typically, how much do you drink (water and other fluids), what vitamins do you take and how much and often, how much exercise and sleep do you get? What are the stressors in your life? How are you coping? Taking care of you?
I know I am a nurse/Nurse practitioner, if I do not take care of me I can not be there to give to my patients, that has nothing to do with my surgery and everything to do with my taking responsibility for my physical and emotional health...
Exercise is a huge benefit emotionally and physicailly for me. I do agree vitamins are important. I may look to my clinical nutrition doctor for a full set of labs when and what wer ethe results of these labs for you??? You may be deficient. How much protein do you get in?
MANY postops do not f/up with a provider that know how to monitor for our nutritional status..many PCPS get a CBC and chemistry panel and say all is well, forgetting the other dozen tests we need at least annually!
Many of us are caretakers and forget to take care of us and neglect ourselves and we get sick.....if we are run down as you know illness can happen..even if just emotional stress......Here is labs needed..ask provider to run them.
I take a multivit a day 2000mg calcium citrate dicvided in 4 doses a day and B12 sublingual 1000mcg a day as well as Ferrous gluconate iron 300mg a day with 500mg vit c (as I was anemic after plastics), also Vit D 50000 IU weekly as at 5 yrs I came up D deficient!
