I am starting on my road!
Good evening everyone!
I am finally going to do this. I have seen SO many of the people around me doing this and seeing the life they got back from gaining control. I am SO sick of all my diabetic meds. I am sick of buying men's clothes. I want to run, play, ride-all the fun things that I've been missing out from for the last 22 years.
I go on Feb 22nd to the informational meeting down at Westchester Medical. I went to one of the seminars back in Aug.2007, but my Mother fell and broke her hip(she's 85) and my life got put on hold. Last July we had almost a head on accident at 40mph. I have to have surgery on my rotator cuff in May-I can't stand the pain of it-therapy didn't help nor did the cortisone shot. I've got nerve damage to the ulnar nerve, but that's for a much later time. I've got 4 months of recovery for that.
So 2 months out, I hope to do the bypass. I've been back at the gym-doing only what the Dr's will let me because aerobics are out, it's treadmill, bike and swimming. I do the excercises from therapy too. But the weight isn't moving-I am doing modified Weigh****chers due to the carbs in some of the recipes.
So here I go.....hopefully this all pans out and my life can be my own once and for all. And I can toss the Byetta-so long Lizard Spit!

So sorry to hear of all you've had to endure!
But, best of luck with all of that and also with the bypass! It will probably be the best thing you've done!!!
Hope it all goes perfectly!!

Thanks Heather and Marcia!
I hope that this helps me get on the right track. What gets me is that I finally got my endo to test me for Cushings, but I supressed on the dex test-it was very low on the normal, so they won't test anymore. It all started back when I was 19, I gained 40lbs in 6 weeks. They told me to eat salad 3 times a day. I did, but yick. I was riding 24 miles a day on my bike, roller skated, etc. My cycle last for 6 weeks on, 2 weeks of and another 5 weeks. Told me it was ALL in my head. I was also told I had PCOS. Don't think that's right either, because while my cycles did stop for 3 years, I dropped 62lbs in 4 months and got pregnant right away. My cycles can be set with a watch now to the exact minute. Never used any fertility drugs for any of my 3 kids. There's got to be a answer out there for me why I can't loose this weight now. I did Medifast for 1 full month and lost nothing at all.
So I am looking forward to getting on with this journey-maybe this will give me some of the answers I look for.
