My new guilty pleasure!!!

Oh my, have I found a great new treat! The best part is....it's totally fine and allowed! YaY

I'm sure many of you have already tried this, but....at less than 2 months out, I am just discovering...maybe some of you are as well, so enjoy....=)

I have recently loved having a mug of Swiss Miss Sugar Free Hot Chocolate at night, or sometimes in the late afternoon. I love it because it is nice and warm--it's been so cold here--and it is sweet, so it satisfies my want for something.

So, tonight my dear husband made me a cup(he's so sweet) and I added something great...some of the Hazelnut Davinci Sugar Free Syrup!

For anybody not familiar with Davinci's--in 2 Tbsp there are 0 Cal, 0 Fat, 0 Carbs, 0 Sugars!! It is sweetened with Splenda--and this flavor actually has real hazelnuts in it! Yes, 0 Cal and 0 Carbs....I know, I know....but how does it taste????

OH MY GOD!!!!!!! This is awesome! Who needs Starbucks or sugar or any other thing that is bad for me! This is sooooo good! LOL Ok, I'm done now...::deep breath::

Next time--tomorrow probably, I will try the other one I have--raspberry....yummmmmm
But for now, I am still in ChocoHazelnut Heaven!!!!  This stuff is definately worth the $8 a bottle! LOL

Hope some of you will enjoy it too!  =) Yummmmm

To make this an even less gulity treat, I have found that if I take the Swiss Miss and add a scoop of Chocolate or Cookies & Cream protein powder, it is even a good source of protein.  The secret I have found is you have disolve the protein powder in a little water, before adding the ho****er.  It also helps to add the ho****er slowly while stirring to keep the protein from getting lumpy.

Maybe I'll work up the courage to ty that at some point. But, I wasn;t really too fond of the protein powders right after surgery....

Also, my doctor suggests that we get all our protein, or as much of it as possible, from solid food sources. He doesn't recommend protein powders or drinks or anything like that, unless you can';t get enough out of your food.

Luckily, I do get all my protein from food, so, I figure if I get a little liquid in and its yummy and not bad for me, that is good enough for me!

But, maybe I will try the powder again someday....thanks!

I am actually almost 2 months out....my surgery was Dec 1st, so Feb 1st, will be 2 months.....

Anyway...I get all my protein in by focusing my meals on...well...protein.

Breakfast..I usually have eggs...usually with some cheese on them...or if ZI am running out the door, I will have a crispy wheat with peanut butter...

Lunch varies...but it always involves protein....chicken salald, tuna salad, egg salad (if I haven't had eggs for breakfast), protein pizza...etc....

Dinner varies but I eat very little of the carb filled side dishes that I make for my husband...I will have a pieve of fish that Is packed with protwin...or a piece of chicken, etc.

I don't always, every single day, without fail, get every single gram of protein....sometimes I have bad days....but I am happy with my progress....I have been thinking of adding a small meal maybe in the evening (instead of a snack) of vegetables..I feel like I dont get enough of those....

I try my best...don't always succeed...but I am plugging along....

Yes sounds like you have the protein focus down.
How many ounces are you able to consume? An egg is 6g protein an ounce tuna or fis h or meat about 7g and ounce. that is easiest way to figure it for me.

I never heard of protein pizza please do share.

Peanutbutter is one of my downfalls, , I still eat it BUT at one point hubby had to actually lock it up in the safe because I'd eat it all the time! Same with nuts dangerous. (I wish 2T didn't have 200 cal and so much fat! I easily eat this now and JIF is my only tolerable PB! I am picky) I have not tried that new PB everyone is talking about have you? Bell Plantation
PB2 Powdered Peanut Butterhttp://www26.netrition.com/bell_plantation_pb2.html

I am living more in harmony with these triggers but it is a challenge still. YES WLS is the hardest thing I have ever done...it is due to the ongoing nature there is no end or goal or destination it truly is every moment of every day of the rest of our lives.

I find 4-5 meals at this point works for me it is not grazing it is small planned meals. I look to eat around 1500-1800 cal a day now with my activity level, of course I can and have eaten much more postop when I get to munching and mindlesss eating those high calorie dense foods (nuts and PB for me and cheese lots of it !) I also flirted with the creamers danger danger for me. I wish you well. Keep working hard!

I really love SF Hot chocolate.  I enjoy most when I crave chocolate.  I'm a chocolate monster.  I'm going to have me some right now and I'm at work - my job actually supplies all varieties of Swiss Miss including SF .

Hunnie, it looks like you are doing really well with your RNY - that so wonderful!!!

Best,
Leila

Yes it is a ocassional treat, it still has carbs and sugar (if you are like me I tend to drink things like this more than once a day I had to ban em..slipper slope for myself to drink calories) but if made with water and ocassional ok, even better I agree if make warm protein shakes!

No sugar added still 10g carbs and 7g sugar in a packet.............sigh I got hooked on NSA chai lattee for a while but at 200cal day I was drinking dangerous! Thanks for sharing ideas.
