I've had thinning hair since my 20's. I purchase wigs and hair pieces from Paula Young. They have a web site online. The prices are reasonable, and you can easily return items if you do not like them. I found out about this company from my hair dresser. She even had hair color swatches which helped me in choosing the right color for my first hairpiece.
My current profile picture shows me with bangs and a fall. The color is way different from my natural color (brunette), but I thought it would be fun.
Hope this helps.

Nanette,
I know what you are going through. The hair-loss has turned out to be the only thing that has truly annoyed the hell out of me during this adventure!! I can handle the excess skin - I don't like it but I can handle it - but the hair thinning really annoyed me!! I have had a "wide" part for the last few years & thanks to a "friend's" comments I became very self-conscious about it!! (She can really be a cruel b*tch & can't understand why I distanced myself from her over the yrs!)
Anyway, I am very fortunate in the sense that I have a great hairdresser & we were very careful with everything we did... nothing that would damage the hair I had & we cut it to hide what we could. I made sure I got in as much protein as possible, I took the biotin that was recommended & stayed away from blow dryers, curling irons, etc as much as possible. Now that I am a year out I still have some thin areas but it looks a whole lot better!! I will admit that back around Thanksgiving time we decided that my hair was strong enough, healthy enough, to try out some extensions! I gave in & figured I had nothing to lose!! I tried a pink strand for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October & that stayed in very well!! The first batch that went in & felt pretty good & so many people came up to me & commented on how fast my hair was growing again... yeah, almost like overnight!!! LOL!! (I had cut my hair short - I have some pics posted showing the new hair cut - now it's shoulder length again!! I will get some current pics in there soon.)
OMG - I went this past Saturday for some more (I now have a total of 125 pieces) & I finally have a head of hair that I am not trying to hide!! It's thick again & she even put a few up around the crown area as high as she could go without it being visible & gave me a cut that worked wonders!!! WOW - what a difference!! Now don't get me wrong - this wasn't cheap & she did give me a huge discount but I would've paid her twice what I have over the last few months for how I feel now!!! It is an option but be very careful if you decide to go that route. Find someone who knows what they are doing & uses quality hair (mine is real & looks amazing!!)
Don't give up - you'll find a way to feel good again!!
