hello all.. today i had my appt for my IVC filter placement. i was originally supposed to get the removable one in the neck but since i am allergic to nickel i had to get the life time one... And since I needed the permanent one i needed to get it placed in the groin because they didnt have the one for the neck. ugh... PAINFUL!! after all is said and done, i am SOOO thankful it is over. I actually had a nervous break down in the waiting room prior to getting it done. My surgery is for monday and I am sooo freakin' scared. Today I was 20mins late because I was backing out. I dont know how I am going to be able to go in for surgery in a couple days! Like I said  in prior posts, I am mainly scared of the pain .. Just felt like venting a little, any comments would be helpful!!!!

thanks

Pre surgery can be scary, but try to relax...IT WILL BE OKAY!  I know in the preop area at my hospital I was actually in tears waiting for them to wheel me in...just scared of surgery and change and everything.  Then they gave me the happy drugs, wheeled me in, and next thing I knew I was in recovery.  Just hang in there, and PM me if you ever need to talk!

Heather,

What you are feeling is normal.  I felt scared too.  You can check out my "Oh Sh.." pic on my photo page.  It truly shows the way I was feeling right before being wheeled in.  I think that's the hardest part is right before.  Once you are out, you won't even know you had surgery.  Like the previous poster said, next thing you know, you're in recovery.  Checking the before and after photos on this site might help to encourage you too.  Remember what your goal was for having this surgery and stay positive.

I was so nervous it actually helped me cut down on my eating prior to surgery.  I ate, but not as much.  Once it's over, you'll be so glad sister.

Hang in there.  Feel free to PM me if you need to talk.  Have a great day.

Take Care,

Tammy

After surgery, my lips were extremely dry.  I felt weak and took a lot of cat naps.  It was hard for me to really sleep in the hospital.  I was tired after but within a few hours, it started to get better.  I was so relieved the surgery was over.

I didn't have "Aunt Flow" around my surgery day so can't help you out there.

Have a great day.

Tammy :-)

Hi. I see that you have had Dr Kim. I am having Dr. Simon for my surgery on the 15th. How was your experience at Univsersity? I'm just curious. I go to the IHP on the 9th for my preop stuff, then right after that I go to UH to meet with the anesthesiologist and a few other people. Do you remember how that went? I'm just so nervous, any advice I could get would be well appreciated. Thanks :)
