JC,
Welcome to the NY board. I had RNY on 10/6/08 and my advice to you would be to bring chapstick to the hospital. After surgery, your mouth and lips will be extremely dry. The hospital will probably give you those spongy things with water for your mouth. It does go away within a few hours.
Other than that, my advice would be to just do what your Doc says to.
Good luck to you. It's an awesome ride so get ready!!!!
Tammy :-)
Welcome to OH! I am Jessica and had my RNY June 18th,2008. Mine was open not laproscopic.. by choice. My advice to you is to use us on this site as a support as much as you need, do your research and do not be afraid to ask questions. The only stupid questions are the ones you do not ask.
Gastric Bypass is truly a lifechanging surgery.. the outcome is all up to you!

jessica,
Thank you very much for the advise, I am going to go over the different posting boards to learn as much as can.
I will keep in touch with your postings as you already had your surgery, I hope things are going well for you, I hope it will be ok to contact you through postings in the future.

Welcome! I hope your experience with this journey will be wonderful!
My advice to you would be to:
1. Do not compare yourself with others, we are all unique and this should not be a competition.
2. Do not get addicted to the scale. Set a weighing in schedule and stick to it.
3. Do what your surgeon and the staff says to do!
4. Don't be scarred, ask for help, accept support.
5. Take the time to make real changes in your life.
I am so happy I found this website, I have found such great advice and support here. Don't be a stranger!
