Any Long Islanders?

Hey everyone!

I know many of you are from Long Island and so am I! I am in Bohemia in Suffolk county.
I would just love to talk to anybody else from the Island! Let me know!  Thanks!

I'm a Long Island girl.  My girlfriend Siobha'n and I hold a WLS support group meetings every month every other Tuesdays at the Patchogue-Medford Library. We usually post here on the board when we are going to hold a meeting. Maryellen R.  is another wonderful leader who holds a wls support group as well.  She who holds her  meetings at the connectquot library. So, there is plenty of support if you need it. I hope you take full advantage of our support groups. They are a lot of fun.  you can email me privately anytime for support , as well. I will be here for you.

Thanks so much for answering! It's funny because I actually am already a member of Maryellen's group! She's wonderful! I would love to check out your meeting as well--I think I've seen Siobhan's posting about it once before, but I totally forgot about it until you mentioned it now! So, thanks!
When is the next meeting? I wonder if they run on the same Tuesday as the LIPO ones or if they alternate. I'd love it if I could go to both, as I always wish that they were more often. I have been to the Good Sam Saturday meetings before my surgery, but I hate getting up early! LOL
So, let me know when yours are...my mom is also a gastric patient--she had the band and had a revision to the bypass. Anyway, we would both love to come... =)

=I grew up on long island...does that count?

I miss the island.....20 minutes to a beach north or south....sigh. The Hudson River is a poor substitue for the sound, and an even poorer substitue for the ocean beaches (i.e. robert moses!!!). Although, I do not miss the traffic...lol...that I can live without.

What part of the island are you from?
I grew up in Farmingville--went to Sachem and now I live in Bohemia, not too far from my parents!
I do agree that I could live without the traffic! But where else can ya drive as aggressively and get away with it? LOL
What kind of surgery have you had? I just had the bypass on Dec. 1st--so 17 days out! I am feeling good and losing nicely--29 pounds gone since I came home from the hospital. =)

I'm in Bohemia..so, not too far away! My parents live in Farmingville, just a little south of the university--what do you do there? Teach? Office?

Well, I'd love to get to know you.. =)  Do you go to any local support groups? I go to the LIPO meetings in Sayville..and I may begin going to the Patchogue meeting, as well... =)

I'm in Farmingdale. I havent been to any support groups since surgery b/c mine is all the way in Mineola and during rush hour. I was thinking of going to the one in Bayshore that my sister goes to from time to time.
