Today is 2 months since my surgery!!!
Hi Everyone,
My name is Tara and I had RNY on October 8th 2008. Today I am 2 months post op and I have lost 70 pounds I am so excited!!! I just learned about this web-site today and thought that I would check it out!
I live in NJ but I had my surgery in NY! I started this journey back in Jan. of 2007 with a little research and some advice from my MD I met with my surgeon Dr. George Ferzli to discuss my options. When I started I thought for sure I was going for the Lap-band and Dr. Ferzli went over all my options with me. He told me not to make my decision that night to really read over the information he gave me and do my own research on the proceeders available! Thats what I did and realized RNY was more for me!! This is a major decision and one not to take lightly I wanted to lose over 100 pounds and that is why I choose RNY! Everyone is different and you have to find what will work for you!
I have read some of the posts on here and on other web-sites and I feel really bad for some of the things that people have gone through. I was very lucky I had no problems filling my requirments, getting my clearances or with my surgery itself!! I am so happy I went with Dr. Ferzli and his team helped me every step of the way. I was required to go to 2 post op support groups but I went to more then that because they really help you get ready and all my Questions were answered and I felt very confident as my surgery approached!
Well I just wanted to say "HI and congrats to everyone for taking this step to change their lifes and get healthy" Also if there is anyone in the Brooklyn, Staten Island even NJ areas that have any questions about Doctors or what not please feel free to ask!!!

WELCOME TO OH. Congrats on your new life and journey. That is so awesome that you have done such a fantastic job so far. I am waiting for my surgery, I am scheduled for Jan 7 in Albany, and I am so excited. I just can't wait to start me journey.

You are doing a fantastic job Tara! I had my surgery 11/18, I have also been very lucky so far. I actually get worried because I know that eventually something is not going to agree with me. And I am not prepared for that!
Anyway...welcome to OH. I absolutely love this website. I have found so much support here and can not say enough positive things about the people I have interacted with here. I hope you find it to be the same.
