Swallowed gum! HELP!

I was drinking coffee and chewing gum, and i suddenly had to cough and I coughed and accidentially swallowed gum!

I had RNY is the gum gonna digest down there or is it gonna get stuck? I'm pretty nervous right now...

So far i dont feel anything, but I need to know if I should call the hospital about this.

This is a bit late in responding ... I did the same thing early post op and - I was fine. Hope you are too!

I'm guessing it was a slice of s/f gum and not a huge wad of DoubleBubble. A small piece of gum shouldn't cause you any trouble. You will easily pass it! I did same thing and had no prob......be careful from now on! (Gum and coffee at same time????)

Ya it was one piece of orbits gum. I think I passed it. Ive eaten like 5 meals since the incident without any problems and had 2 bowel movements and no pain. My doctor never told me not to chew gum...and I havent read it on the forums or on ites on bariatric surgery...is this common knowledge?

Oh I chew while i drink coffee cuz im afraid the coffee will stain my teeth (got em bleeched real nice and white to go with my nice new body XD)
