This REALLY Blows!!!

So my former employer was supposed to make my COBRA health insurance effective Dec 1st.  I mailed them my check for almost $300 like I was supposed to and it cleared on Nov 28th.

Well, it would've helped if they forwarded my premium to the insurance company!   Instead they just cashed and pretty much pocketed it!  Oh and wouldn't you know that my surgery was under review by IHA and was denied due to my employer paid coverage ending on Nov 30th.

I then had a little 'chat' with my former HR manager; she said that it was her fault and that she mailed a check to IHA yesterday.  Doesn't help me now though does it?!  I am sooo ****ED!

My coverage will backdate to Dec 1st so there's no lapse  but now Synergy has to resubmit everything for insurance approval AGAIN!  Which means I have to wait probably 2 more weeks for an approval and/or date.  I left Deann at Synergy a vm message about the whole thing and I hope she is able to resubmit everything smoothly on Monday.  Time is of the essence because I need to have this surgery before I find new employment.

Top it all off I'm sick as a dog - feel like I've coughed up both my lungs...UGH!!!!

Sorry that this is long-winded...I just needed to vent.

That does totally blow! But the approval went thru fast the first time, so maybe it'll go really fast this time. I mean they already made the approval so hopefully this will just be a formality type of thing. Human Resources always screws that type of stuff up. Well now you should concentrate on getting well from that cold, gotta be good and healthy for surgery!
Keep me posted, and feel better!

You are amazing!

I was also initially denied after my surgery date was set.  My Doc wrote a letter and I appealed.  They rushed the review since I already had a surgery date, and it was approved the second time around.  Keep making followup phone calls...sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the oil.

Good luck to you.

if they give you a hard time tell them your contacting the stae dept of insurance....trust me they dont want them crawling through their office !!!!!

The longest of Journeys start with a single step
(90 lost pre-surgery)
