Hello my fellow NY'ers.....
Just wanted to peek in and see how you all are doing? Once again I am trying to get myself back into the healthy ways. Just to give an update: I had my surgery in June of 05, lost a total of 135 lbs! Was as my surgeons goal but not mine! Lost my job May of 07 and just let it get to me, from there I went back to my old habbits and back to not working out! gained back 40 lbs and now weigh 190-195 lbs!! NOT HAPPY and feel rather bad about it! I know that getting back to my old ways is the only way that I can get myself back on track to a "Healthy" lifestyle.
At first I thought that my surgery is working against me, since I eat and then 1 hr later I am so hungry again. Just like I did not eat, I know our pouch does get a bigger and I wanted to blame that for not controling my eating. Well since we do not have that flap (not sure what it is called) that holds the food in that after surgery it really is a bad side effect BUT now I know that if I start to follow my old pouch rules and get back to the basics THEN I can see if it really is my bad habits for the surgery! I have a feelin it is MY bad habits!!!! NOT the surgery!
Well I will be peeking in more and using the site as I have in the past, I also learned that I will never be "normal" and this IS something I will need to work on and carry with me FOREVER!
Missed you guys....
Please post back and let me know how you all are doing, even the people I have not met yet!!!
~hugs~

Hi! My name is Mary and I am having my surgery (rny-open) on 11/18. I am very excited and know that I have alot of work ahead of me. I am sorry about your recent bad luck and I hope that you see better times soon. When I get the chance to meet people who have been thru the process and are on the other side it is a great inspiration to me. Your weight loss is remarkable. Thank you for sharing your recent battle with weight gain, it illustrates to me how important it will be to make permanent changes in my life post-op. I wish you the very best of luck and hope you find getting back on track to be rewarding! I look forward to seeing you on the boards in the future!

Rosemary,
OMG you look awesome!!! Congrats hun, yes you are right it is a daily battle to stay and be a healthy person! I was so trying to be a "normal" person and I have to remember I will NEVER be normal even it I appear to look normal, just like any addict, I have to deal with this for the rest of my life if I want to be successful....
Thanks hun

Hey Mama!
Nice to see you back! I feel your pain about weight regain. I am also struggling with a 10-15 pound regain, also never having gotten to my personal goal....but I keep re-humbling myself with frequent reminders on healthy eating, increasing movement in my life, and finding other activities to replace food as a source of comfort and well-being. It is VERY HARD! But I could not have come this far without WLS, and I KNOW you feel the same.
Keep in touch Debra. I'm glad to know that you'll be back on the boards again.
Hugs,
Amy
