DR JOSEPH CARUANA BUFFALO

Wondering from his current and past patients what it took to get a call back or first appointment?  I dropped off paperwork, had the psych eval and follow-up...spent hours and almost 200 USD that I do not have...and still not so much as a call.  I am about to move on but have left a MSG for Linda giving them a week to contact me.  Just wondering if anyone else has run into this hurdle with him?  Also, was Linda the person to leave a message with...because there are way too many options in that list you get when you call.  I may be trying to talk to the wrong person.  Why isn't there a secretary?  I guess you cant answer that, but it is just so frustrating to call a new doctor and not know who to talk to.  There are only about a dozen options, right...how ridiculous.  Okay now I am just venting, sorry.  I would really appreciate a response here...especially if you know who I should call for at his office.  Thank you so much.

Hi there!

Sorry to read you're having a difficult time...I've been dealing with Synergy for at least a couple of months now and I've never recevied any problems with getting any of my calls returned.  I know for a fact that they can't schedule a consultation unless they have received the psych eval paperwork  (as well as all the other stuff) from the office you went to for that.  Linda is the person to speak with in the very beginning...she tells you about the online seminars and stuff if memory serves.  I called her a couple of times when I was starting this process and she's really nice.

Missy at  ext 113 - she rocks!  She's the one who makes sure they have all the info prior to consultation I would give her a call.  Once she makes sure they have ALL the paperwork...from you, your PCP and from your psych eval, she will have Gail (forgot her extension but she's nice too) call you directly and schedule your consultation with Dr. Caruana.  However, the office closes at noon on Fridays and no one is really there on Friday's anyway.  I would leave messages or call them first thing on Monday morning.

I'm having my consultation on Nov 20th and I'm REALLY hoping someone has a cancellation so I can get an earlier appointment because I was recently laid off from my job and have all this free time on my hands.  Waiting sucks even more now!!!

Hope this information helps!

Hi!  I agree -- call Missy.  Make sure that they got all your psych eval info and see if there is anymore info that they need.
Good luck and don't give up...Dr. Caruana is the best!

Ditto! When I was waiting for my consult, there was a problem with my info from my pcp's office and Missy helped me take care of everything. I was on the phone with her every day for at least a week and she never got snippy or irrated with me at all! And when we finally got everything worked out, I got my appointment. I know that they got alot going on there alot of patients past and current as well as new patient paperwork, and they are usually very nice and efficient. You'll get there, and once you meet them you will be so happy with them. Call Missy on Monday for sure, good luck!

You are amazing!
Mary

I agree it took forever to get them to call back or even tell you where your paperwork was in the process. I started my quest in late july, had my appt with Dr C mid oct and my surgery is scheduled for next week. The waiting was hard but once everything was in things moved along more quickly. I tried to stay on top of the paperwork making sure my PCP and psych evals were in.

I am having my surgery tomorrow and started bavck in July as well. after they received everything from psych evaluation I didnt have to wait at all. It took psych eval about 2 weeks to get to Dr. Carauana's office and I received a call 2 days after they received the evaluation.  I would give aMissy a call. she knows what is going on.  as soon as you get in with him the wait is almost over so don't give up.  Dr. carauana is amazing and it is worth the wait.

I am sorry this is so frustrating-
I actaully started out with Caurana office back years ago and dont remember having any problems- BUt I started this process back in the begining of the year and I had a problem With Dr Posner office returning calls and not knowing who to talk to so I thought I would try Caurana and they havent returned any of my calls- SO I gave up and went with the first office that actually got back to me and scheduled me for my seminars etc-
SO I am going with Dr.Posner Office at Buffalo General-
It took me forever to get any calls returned- some people dont have any probelms getting a hold of these offices-
I havent heard of very many people having problems with Caurana office- It seems like most people get in and get a date and have surgery all in a very short time-
As for Dr Posner office- I put my paper work in back in Feb of this year and I am having surgery on Wed- This has been a very long and difficult road-
You actually have gone very far in your process -
When did you have your Pyshe evaluation? DId they mention when they would call you?
Hang in their- Keep us posted-
