2) Which surgery did you have? I had the RNY, September 29, 2008.
2) How much weight have you lost? Pre-op, I lost 84 pounds on the Medifast (in 13 weeks). The first weigh in after surgery and my post surgery infection was Oct. 10, and I'd only lost ONE POUND! Was evidently holding on to all the IV fluids from the hospital and then the ER/re-admission IV fluids because this past Friday (Oct 17), I'd lost 13 pounds.
3) Tell us about 1 NSV (non scale victory) or WOW moment.
#1 - Getting rid of enough infection so I could finally get up and walk around without dissolving in tears of pain.
#2 Finally sleeping without "food porn" floating in my dreams :*(
LMBO ... Hey, nothing worse than waking up to your "RNY reality" after dreaming about all your favorite foods!
4) Biggest challenge lately. - Coming up with different things to eat while fulfilling protein needs, although, finding the recipe board here has helped, along with help from kind members like "Jamiecatlady." Have found some doing web searches, but find you have to be careful with the nutritional breakdown some folks have done. Found a cool resource for checking though, this food calculator: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp. That's on the same site where there's some yummy recipes too! (Do a search for words like bariatric, gastric bypass, lap-band, bariatric crock, etc.)
5) What is next on your "bucket list"?
Need to get finished with the home health nurses doing wound debridement & care here at home every day before I can really move forward -- But there are quite a few things on my "bucket list," as shown on my profile page- Hmmm ... let's see, guess I'd love to be able to wear some other type of pants besides stretch leggings and stirrup pants!! Want to finally wear a pair of jeans without feeling as though I'm being sliced in half! Or even a nice pair of dress slacks. Guess that seems rather silly, but having been 400+ for so long, truly pretty or decent fittling clothing is tough to come by.
Guess I qualify as one of those who was "lurking" -- though to be honest, never being able to access the chatrooms made me lose interest in exploring, until recently anyway! So glad my curiosity got the best of me. Some really fantastic folks here. :) Nice to have this method for saying "hello" and meeting new friends!
Warm Hugs ~ Suzanne
