AMC support group - protein sampling

In case anyone is interested the AMC support group scheduled for 5:30pm on 10/16/08 is going to be having a "protein sampling".   This is a time to bring in some of your favorite protein shakes (bring dry and mix there) or bars to share and at the same time to try others.  We hope to have a variety of samples.  Personally I find it hard to find protein drinks that I like and the thought of buying a large container of something I may or may not like turns me off.  Even protein powders from GNC that can be returned can be costly if you do not live close to a GNC (calculate the cost and time to drive there to buy it and then return it).
The more the merrier.
Hope to see you there.

Well been there, done that, lots effort pn my part, time involved and not well received (many yuckies). Most do not use shakes, 2 local programs tend to not support them. Samples online seem to be the way to go with folks making recommendations. www.vitalady.com or www.bariatriceating.com Challenging to bring it all in, whip it up w/o magic bullet blender, shaked is not greatest too lumpy, getting ice etc...We have had folks bring samples for others who want to try at home, we have given awaymany samples when I used to get them free from companies who seem to have stopped.

Just had this at Albany Clinical Nutritions a few months back before they stopped having group when Kathleen left for AMC; all from unjury www.unjury.com

so many folks have their stricks and favorites to mix up, sf syrups, sf/ff pudding or jello to taste a 1tsp in each shake, mix with koolaid etc hard to please folks, protein bars IMHO are wolf in sheeps clothing, glorified candybars, ok for emergency but they say the protein is not as bioavail as the shakes.

Soooooooooo if someome wants to organize it, fund it, etc I will consider, but I am not up to it for the outcome.

Bring your favorite recipes to share thay may be fruitful!

Saratoga would be great! I have not had surgery yet. My 1st actual appt is Thursday at Ellis.
I can't wait for the games to begin!
I have tried a few single packets of protein. I am going online this week to buy some single packets to try. Like everyone seems to say though that the taste buds change and what I like now I might not like post op. Also starting to collect recipes for drinks, mushy foods etc.
I am a fast food freak so I will have to get a grip on that. I think its the drive through action at lunch that I am addicted to. If I can find items on the menus that I can still eat I will still be able to get my "drive throgh" fix.
