Ok,  I know I am not getting all my protein in each day.  There seems to be not enough hours in the day to get all that is needed in.

I went to Walmart the other day because i wanted to get some whey protein.  But the pharmacist didnt want to tell me to get the wrong thing so i didnt end up getting it.  Can anyone tell me what kind I should get?  At walmart?  and I would like to get some plain whey to put in my soups and drinks.  What brand should i get?  The sheet I got from the Hospital says I should get Met Rx whey but i dont know where to find it.

Sorry I don't have a clue either. I know that I didn't get in all my protein either right after surgery. I agree it is very hard! Wish I could be of more help. you might want to repost this in the main board if you already haven't - you will probably get a lot more response there.

If you want to try a protein powder you may want to start with samples.  I've learned the hard way and spent a fortune on powders, brought them home, hated them and thrown out cans that cost $20-30.  I know that vitalady sells samples and from what I've seen she has the largest variety. http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&k eywords=protsamp&SortKey=sku&SortOrder=ascending  I have been tracking what other people like and don't like and will be ordering some samples this week.
In the meantime if you want something rightaway find a local GNC.  You can pick up a container of protein, try and if you do not like it, take it back for a full refund. (This I learned too late).  I've heard GNC also has an unflavored version. I think I may try that soon.
Keep us posted on what you find, like and don't like.
Have a great day!

I have used the tasteless protein from GNC and it is fine, I did not like the ones with any flavor,

Your selection at WalMart is going to be very limited. What I have heard folks buy there with mixed reviews is Body Fortress whey protein for $18 jug or so 2#. Vanilla or Chocolate no unflavored.

Samples are by far IMHO the way to go, www.vitalady.com www.bariatrcieating.com or www.unjury.com are 3 sites w. samples.

As for unflavored locally at GNC you may find anywhey protein from Optimum nutrition this is unique in that you can cook and bake with it! (other proteins can NOT be heated above coffee pot temperature w/o breaking down the proteins). ~130-140 degree temp!

I have never tried unjury, too expensive IMHO but the best protein for YOU is the one you can tolerate!
I am a fan of PVL whey gourmet BE has it Vitalady does not, I tend to order from www.a1nutrition.com or www.netrition.com (local to myself in ALbany NY $4.95 S&H no matter what I buy!)

Designer whey also has a natural flavor protein (at GNC also I think)...
http://www.designerwhey.com/ 1 scoop 90 calories/1.5g fat/2g carbs (2g sugar carbs)/18 g protein
40 scoops/canister

GNC has bottles of ISOPURE look like Koolaid 40g a bottle expensive like $3 or so each but drink 1/2 each day (no more than 30G at a serving)...may help u in the beginning!

You need to make sure that you have enough protein for the calories (about 20 gr. of protein up to 130 calories), very low or no sugar. Whey protein is best.

Do yourself a favor and get a bunch of samples:
vitalady
bariatriceating

I love trying protein and have found several that I really, really love and have become staples in my house.

Lean Desserts Cinnamon Rolls (my fave)
Lean Desserts Banana Nut Bread (my gf fave)
Syntha 6 Mochaccino
Matrix Cookies and Cream
Nectar Iced Tea (mixed with Crystal Light or alone)

You are bound to find something you like.
Good luck.
