Congrats!
I have my first appt next week! I wish I was on the losers bench!
It sounds like you were a lightweight. May I ask what your weight was before surgery? I am about 215lbs and 5'2". I think I am concerned about the length of time it will take for weight to come off. It seems like the more you have to lose the quicker it comes off. But you seems to be dropping quick! Any complications??

Post some pics too!

Hi,

From what I was told I was one of the "smaller" patients.   I'm 5'8 and the day of surgery I was 242.    Honestly though, I'm one of the people that have a hard time eatting..  Forcing myself to have to do so..  I think my calories have been on the low side..  I really haven't compared to anyone who is around the same time frame as myself, but I do know I haven't hit over 400 calories on any given day.. normal is about 320.   Maybe that is something I should look into.

My complication has been my potassium level, I've had two different overnights at the hospital since surgery because my potassium level wa****ting rock bottom and causing my heart to do really funky things.  :(  I'm on a potassium suppliment now, and it will more than likely have to be a permanent thing.  And frequent EKG's for the first couple of months.   I guess it's not really a very well talked about compliation.  I never read anything about it until it happened to me.

Luickly I feel like I've had it pretty easy,   I've never thrown up, not even once.  Then again I've been really careful about what I eat and have struck strickly to the Nut's guide, my only deviation was I had some string cheese while on the puree diet a few times..  Going by my nut's guide I've been cleared for pretty much everything but steak and raw veggies at this time,  but I really do just stick with the really soft foods still, chili, cottage/ricotta cheese, grits, soups, eggs, ect.    I did have one little episode where I didn't chew a piece of some deli sliced chicken enough and it got stuck, it didn't even last really long.  I had acouple of really REALLY sharp hurtful pains in my chest, but I just took some deep breaths and it was done in less than 5 minutes.  It was enough to scary me off the stuff for the time being though.

I really was expecting the worse, puking every day...  dumping on just about anything.  Luckily I've not had any problems.

Hello,
Pottassium is already one of my issues. I am usually on a suppliment a few times a year because I have imbalances that are like crashes. I take the K+ and I feel great! I am hoping I can be-rid of my blood pressure pills though. I take 3 of them a day for hypertension and have been on them for 16years.
I haven't tried any protein shakes yet but have made a binder with info, recipes and food ideas. I want to make it more organized though(not one of my finer points). The protein ice creams sound great too! My fast food drive threws will need to be modified and my love for diet pepsi. I need to start weaning from these now.

TTFN,
Lisa
