Its been 2 weeks since my surgery and I am running out of ideas for meals.  How do you puree cottage cheese?  I used to love cottage cheese, now it seems gross!  Can I puree chicken noodle soup yet? not sure about the noodles

I never really pureed my foods - I just made sure that everything that I ate was really soft and I chewed it well. I ate a lot of scrambled eggs, Tuna fish, salmon, yogurt, mashed potatoes mixed with chicken broth for more flavor - anything that I could "mash" up a little with a fork. Also if you have a crock-pot you can utilize that to cook things until they are really soft - maybe not right now but in a couple weeks. Chicken thighs cooked in the crock pot will be literally falling apart.

I never like cottage cheese but I don't see why you would have to puree it. It seems really soft to begin with and as long as you chew it well I would think that you would be OK. But you'll have to test the theory out for yourself - I'm kind of a rebel and like to push the limits!

Other than the food issue how are you feeling?

I am surprisingly doing pretty well. my incisions are healing.  I am driving again.  And I went back to school last week.  I just made my husband drive me, last week.

I am having odd dreams,  anyone ever have that happen?  Dream that you ate something solid and werent supposed to?  i am also a little more than crabby.  I find that I go to bed early too.

I was on liquid for 2 weeks then soft mushies, then progressed to regular food chewed well, I never pureed anything or did babyfood or the like..yogurt 2-4T was a meal, as was ricotta cheese (see recipes below), cottage cheese no need to blend just chew it!
Focus is on protein so soup really wont satisfy hunger is a slider and well loaded with carbs in the noodles, Id keep from the applesauces, mashed taters, crem of wheat type of things not high nutritionally when we need protein!

scrambled egg beaters soft with some cheese, cheese stick, tuna salad or a yd seafood salad or egg salad or shrimp salad or chicken or turkey salad mixed in magic bullet or mini choooer like a pate worked great for me! 1-4 T was a meal depends on time frame.... potted meatss may work, tofu...

Whether or not this dessert was first served to the Russian Czar Nicholas I by Marie Careme can be debated, but there is little doubt that you will be glad we came up with this version.

3/4 teaspoon grated orange peel
2 teaspoons sugar substitute

Peanut Butter-Chocolate Ricotta Crème Two servings.
1 cup low fat or part-skim ricotta cheese
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 or 3 packets Splenda
1/2 to 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter
1/2 to 1 tablespoon baking cocoa (or 1 to 2 tablespoons sugar-free chocolate
syrup)
Mix as desired, put in 2 serving dishes, chill, and serve. If using chocolate syrup, you can pour on top instead of mixing in, if desired.

Mock Oatmeal
1/2 C Ricotta Cheese
1 pk. splenda
1 egg
1 cap maple flavoring
Mixing. together and microwave 1min 30 sec to 2 min, stirring after 1 minute. The maple smell is wonderful. The texture looks kind of funky, but it tastes good, and is a great protein breakfast that isn't just EGGS!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mock Grits
1/2 C Ricotta Cheese
1 egg
Shredded cheese, garlic powder, salt and butter to taste. Make in the same way as the Mock Oatmeal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mock Danish
1 egg
1 oz. cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 pks splenda
cinnamon to taste
spray oil
Spray small skillet. Beat egg and 1 pk. splenda. Cook over med. heat. Do not stir--let cook. If the middle doesn't cook through, you may flip. (One pan I have to flip, the other I don't?!) Mix
cream cheese, splenda, and vanilla. When egg is done, spread mix over egg and roll up. Sprinkle any leftover mix and cinnamon on top. It is like a dessert!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mock Cinnabon
1/2 C. cottage cheese
1 pkt. splenda
tsp cinnamon
few pecans
Blend with fork. Put in microwave to take off chill. You have to close your eyes and just focus on the cinnamon flavor.
Mock Stuffed Shells:
Ricotta cheese warm amount desired in microwave, top with warmed spaghetti sauce! YUMY!

These are some wonderful sounding recipes. I start pureed foods next Wednesday and will definitely be trying some/most of them! Thank you.

you dont have to puree cottage cheese, it is fine enough to eat as is, the noodle soup ok but not the best thing because the liquid will fill you and you need more solids. I used to take chicken breast and puree it with some fat free gravy it smells like thanksgiving dinner and maybe a spoon of mashed potatos. The purees only last a short time it gets boring towards the end but you will be on semi solids soon   you can also eat fish without puree its the only thing that resembles regular food   try some tilapia with a little lemon squeezed on top
