Happy, Grateful ... and Worried!

Hello Friends --
Long time, no write. Sorry I've not been around much.
Hope you are all well. The good news is today is my 6 month surgiversary. I am SO HAPPY I had the opportunity to have this amazing, life-saving surgery!! God Bless Dr. Caruana!! And all my wonderful support people! I have lost 93 lbs and gotten off a bunch of meds that I had been on for 15+ years. I feel wonderful. What has me worried is I have lost and gained the same 2-3 lbs for almost a month now ... and of course, I worry that I am at the end of my losing. I do have to admit I have dabbled in carbs more than I should have during this time. And I have pretty much been on a hiatus from physical activity. I know I have to get back on track with both of these things. I guess I just need some wisdom, advice and support so I can get back to it and lose the rest of what I am hoping to lose.
Thanks, guys --

Maria;

     I bounce back and forth with the same 5 lbs but I am 16 months out.   I do remember that at different times in this journey I also bounced around with the same few pounds and then would loose and then bounce around for awhile.    It has been 4 months now since I have lost any significant weight.  When I was at my yearly check up with Dr. C he said I really shouldn't expect to loose anymore that I was probably where my body was comfortable.   Too bad I am not so comfortable with the weight.  I would like to loose another 20 lbs yet but I am not sure it is going to happen.   Espeically the way I have been cheating lately with all the stress in my life.  I know I should not use that as an excuse either...... lol     Good luck to you

I am not sure that I would call 2 to 3 pounds a gain.   This could easily be explained by changes in fluid balance.  Could easily just be a simple (although extremely frustrating) stall.  I think your idea of increasing exercise, controlling carbs are a good idea.  Water intake ok?  Maybe a little more water would help.  Is your protien intake ok?

Do you track your food intake?  I still try to track what I eat and look at the nutrition.  I helps keep in the front of my mind what is a good versus poor choice.  Not that it puts a poor choice (higher in fat/calories) on a do not eat list, but on a infrequently eaten list.  The only things I try to put on a do not eat list, are the obivious foods with very little nutrition, i.e. sugar, high fat, fried etc.

Good luck, I hope the scale starts going down soon.  I know how frustrating this can be, just remember how successful you have been so far.  Keep yourself in the right frame of mind.  Vent your frustrations, here since we understand what you are going through.

Maria,

Great to see ya!  You have done an awesome job...just take it a day at a time.  I am at goal and its hard to "regulate" my diet.  My weight bounces back and forth all week.  Its still a challenge and probably will be forever.  Keep the faith...you look fabulous!

Maria dear,
You look and sound wonderful. Here's my humble advice for you: Put the scale away for a few weeks. Pay attention to your behaviors around food and movement and judge your efficacy by what you do most of the time (food choices, exercise, fluid intake)...The scale can be a real deterrent to self esteem which is so important in this business of WLS.

You go girl! You are doing great!!!!

I have found a solution to the same problem you have... this is what works for me....
 I noticed that while on a week long vacation I got bored one day and found myself snacking on popcorn and crackers.  not good for me!!
 so I associated being bored with eating and decided to not get bored anymore!! easier said than done but heres what I did. I went to the local YMCA and got a job as a water aerobics instructor that fills up 2 nights a week, I play bocce with my sister on nights when she needs a sub, I work out on nights when I have nothing to do, I take off and ride my motorcycle on days that are sunny and warm. and I fill my down time with other acctivities that make me happy.. I keep my food demons at bay by being very very busy. I also make sure to eat lots of protein and stay away from the carbs which seem to be a trigger for me.
 Hope this helps
