a little about me... i am 25... 5'2"... 224lbs... bmi 41...
if anyone else has had surgery with synergy bariatrics recently let me know how the hospital stay is (i was told 2 days)...
also, any advice on what to bring there...
suggestions for things to get now that i will need when i am home after surgery?
thanks!!!
Congrats to you!! Now that you have your date time is going to fly!! I was amazed at how quickly time flew for me!!
I didn't have surgery with your group but I can tell you that I had lap rny on a Monday morning & was home by 2:30 Wednesday afternoon!!! Just make sure you get up & walk - they won't send you home if you're not walking!!!
You will find lists of things to bring with you to the hospital but the only things I really needed were loose fitting clothing & some kind of slip on shoes to wear home. Slippers if you want them (I personally was fine with the little non-slip socks they gave me!! And don't forget your chap-stick or lip balm!!! I used mine a ton!!! Oh yeah - I also brought a lightweight robe (OK, the only one that fit me back then) & used it when walking to cover me up a bit more!! My hospital provided me with all of the toiletries I needed but I know some people prefer their own stuff... I couldn't be bothered for the day & a half I was there!!
Do you have anyone at home with you? I didn't & found it easier to have all of my laundry, house cleaning etc done before I went into the hospital that way I wasn't tempted by any of those chores!! My first week home all I drank was water - broth tasted disgusting to me & quite frankly water was all I wanted!! Make sure you have what you need for that first week or 2 on hand. Go by your Dr's program & get only what you need - sf jello, broth, decaf tea, etc. If you have someone to go to the store for you then you don't have to worry too much.
I found it easier to get out of my chair (I have an over-sized chair) if I had a pillow propped up behind me!! I learned that the hard way! (On a side note - I used to fill that chair completely & now my 4 yr old niece can cuddle up in it with me!!!)
That's all I can think of right now - my brain is not working well today I swear!!! Good luck!! Follow your Dr's rules & you will do just fine!!!

Congrats to you as well SoulSister!
Even though my BMI is 46, I just feel I will hit roadblocks...nothing is ever easy for me.
Speaking of which, I have my psych consult later next month with Dr. Lelito. I have read your suggestions about dealing with him...anymore words of wisdom you care to share?
How did you find out you were approved? Did you get a phone call or a letter?
My 'plan' is to have laproscopic bypass with Dr Viglianco...we'll see!

Lelito will ask you what you eat on a typical day. I told him since I was dieting at the time. You may be able to get away without seeing a nutritionist before seeing the dr. if you tell him a typical diet day menu.
He will also ask you if such and such a diet worked why don't you just do it? I replied with would you like to be on ww all of yours life and lose and gain weight. When my mom told him she eats fast food 3 times a week his reply was "whats so hard about peeling a banana?" Yep kind of rude I think. I just didn't get a good vibe from him but maybe thats why he told me I wasn't big enough for wls.
