how will i feel when i come home
I was tired for the first few days after I got home, but stopped taking naps after 3 or 4 days. I really only had pain that was more than uncomfortable when I would get out of the bed or chair and it would last for only about 30 seconds to a minute. I only took one dose of pain pills after I got home. Most of my discomfort was from gas in my belly (walking really helped) and the gas they put in during the surgery.
My suggestion is to plan on being very uncomfortable for about a week and then hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised with your level of comfort.
I am sure you will do wonderfully, the staff at Ellis took such good care of my wife & I. Let us know how you are doing and post any questions that come up.

I had the lap & was surprised at how good I felt by the time they sent me home weds. I was off the prescription pain meds by thursday & only taking tylenol on occasion. I was sore especially when it came to getting out of bed or the chair but slow & steady worked best for me (I have an oversized chair & found that keeping a pillow behind me made it easier to get up!)
Everyone's pain threshold is different but don't let it worry you!! Take advantage of the pain pump while in the hospital - I used it mostly when getting up to walk & then right after getting back in bed... apparently it was the only time I used it - they all commented on how little I was using!!
You're going to do great!!

thank you i have big ambitions. I hope to feel well enough to be able to leave the hospital Sunday morning and make my way to sons football game. Where i promise to sit quietly. My dr. said it possible so im holdin out hope. THe coaches of his team think im funny and have promised to wipe the drool from my chin if im still on pain meds.
Try to have someone with you, that can take you home if you get too tired. The first few days you will tire easily. Beware the boney butt syndrome develops very early. I never realized how much padding I had on my butt. Now I am amazed at how many bones I feel in my butt if I sit too long. Also like CeCe suggested wear something warm, I got chilled very easily.
