Hi everyone,

I am home.  I tried posting before, but I think i might has accidently done it in someone elses post.  Sorry about that.  i am still pretty sore.  Trying to find more ideas to eat.  And how much exactly.  some say i am eating too much too soon, but thats what they told me to eat, unless i am confused, which is quite possible.  I dont know.

The surgery was sucessful as far as that goes.  Dr Hohnson had a little more than he expected with all my prievious surgeries, but he was able to get the job done.  I however, ended up with breathing problems after.  I guess i wasnt in a big hurry to wake up.  but once i did, i progressed quickly.

Welcome Home.  Glad you are now a fellow Looser!  Take it easy, get your walking in and make sure to drink enough.  These first few days are the hardest and very soon you will be feeling better than ever.

Welcome home! Take it easy, rest, sip and walk - how many times have you been told that lol

Each day gets easier and follow your NUTS plan on what to eat, when I came home I referred to my pouch as coming home with a newborn baby with not really knowing what to do, but with help from friends and following instructions from your doctor/nut you will do just fine.

Welcome to the losers bench!

Welcome home!!! I am glad you are doing well!!! You're gonna be sore for a while, obviously but it is really important to walk whenever you can - even if it's just around your house - it helps with the gas pressure too. Don't forget to sip, sip, sip when you aren't sleeping or walking!!! Take it easy & you will be back up kicking butt in no time!!!

What are you eating? When I came home I was not allowed anything but clear liquids for the first week. Please be careful & follow your Dr's plan - you can do some major damage if you try testing the limits this soon out!!
Good luck!

he gave me a list of things to eat,  but its real confusing,

This diet consists of low sugar/sugar free foods that are liquid or semi-liquid only.

Low sugar diet is recommended to prevent dumping syndrome. Dumping syndrome can

occur when concentrated sweets or hydrating liquids are consumed with a

meal causing foods to rapidly pass into the small intestine in 10-15 minutes rather than

gradually.

Im not exactly sure how much i should be eating.  I have a list that I brought home it says sugar free jello, and sugar free pudding, broth,  that whey protien, and i have carnation breakfast drinks and adkins advantage drink,  I dont how much i should be taking in.

Wow - they have you on that stuff already? It still amazes me how each drs' plans differ!!! I would suggest calling them to verify but I can tell you that when I started foods like that it was about 2 tablespoons of "food" & about 3 ounces of liquids at a time - not together of course!! You won't feel hungry or full for a long time so it is really important to measure everything carefully. You will feel the type of fullness we get eventually but not for a little while & trust me, you'll know it when you experience it!! When in doubt err on the side of caution. Make sure you are getting in your liquids - dehydration is a bad, bad, bad thing - and if you're supposed to take supplements & vitamins this soon make sure you do that too!!

When you are allowed more substantial foods (mashed & pureed, soft foods) try pureed beans, chicken (w/ a little mayo or some fat free gravy), even tuna, softly scrambled egg w/ a little shredded cheese in it (I still laugh at the fact that I couldn't eat one whole egg for weeks), baked (or nuked) ricotta cheese w/ a little sauce & parm cheese, refried beans w/ some salsa juice (the tomatoes were too much for me at first) w/ a little shredded cheese heated up, cottage cheese, pureed veggies. I got creative & tried adapting some of my favorite flavors as I moved along like I added a drop of hot sauce to my chicken puree (not buffalo wings but the flavor worked). Stick with the basics at first - you will know when it's safe to add a bit more spice!! I know in the beginning I never felt like eating - I had to make myself eat!! Oh, to have that problem again right now!!
