Hi Guys:
Ok so im going into my second week of Medifat. WOW the first few days were hard but sometime during the sixth day someting must have clicked becasue it got easier. I have done alot of sole searching this week. Trying to make my body understand that although i thought i was starving i really wasnt it was in my head. (its really too bad i cant get a new head too). HATING the texture of the shakes sure hasnt helped but they gave me a soy free one this week and it has no milky feel . Im afraid to say but i actually like it. Anyway i am happy with my weigh loss this week 7 pounds. But i have no idea what te normal weight loss is. Can any of you that have doen this tell me what i should be loosing. The nurse was very sweet and told me i did a great job but i never thought to ask what is a :good weight loss". I am a little nervous as my surgery is in less than 3 weeks  im not sure how much i can loose. My Dr.,has never said ok i want you to lose this amount. Any way after my ramble here i guess my question is this
How much weight should you lose each week on medifast.
Also did anyone else have a problem getting in all their shakes?
Thanks everyone and i hope EVERYONE has a week of WOW'S and happiness

Kebbier,

I really don't think there is a set amount to loose each week, everyone is different.  I also was never told how much to loose during the 4 weeks I was on Medifast, but other people have been told about 10% of your body weight, I lost about 13 % of my body weight in my 4 weeks on Medifast.  Don't worry about how much weight you are loosing, if you aren't loosing as expected, Anne or Chris will let you know.  If you follow the Medifast diet as instructed you will loose the weight as expected.

A couple of Tips that my WLS Angel (CeCe AKA Phatty) gave me was to add extracts to the Medifast Shakes.  I really liked peppermint and almond.  My wife liked the raspberry and Strawberry.  I also added alot of ice at times and put it all in a blender and it would come out so thick I would eat it with a spoon instead of drinking it.  It was sort of like Medifast Ice Cream, but don't worry Ben & Jerry's you have nothing to worry about!

If you need anything, just send me a message.

Good Luck,

Jim

My doc is pretty conservative and he wants me to lose 5% of my body fat pre-surgery.  He doesn't do "optifast" for the 2 weeks prior, he just said any protein shake with 20 grams of protein.  I am already down 9 of the 14 lbs I have to lose so anything over that is bonus as far as I'm concerned.

It's amazing how much surgeons can vary on this issue.

I am on my third week of MediFast, the first week I lost 10 pounds, the second week I lost 2, it was starting to make me a little constipated.
The second and third weeks arn't as bad as the first. That was the WORST! I was sooooo hungry, This third week yes I do have a hard time with not wanting the last one. My surgery is scheduled for 9-22. I can't wait to get it over with!

If you have constipation issues talk with Anne at the office.

I am so glad that you're doing well. It is tough - the toughest part if you ask me but it is a necessity!! Dr Clarke & my ins company required me to lose 10% pre-op.

Everybody loses differently so there really is no set rule of how much you should lose per week. I think you will do fine as long as you are losing something & sticking to the plan!! Ask Chris how much they want you to lose pre-op - I would've thought someone would've told you by now!

Good luck & keep up the great work!! It'll be over before you know it!!!

BTW - yes, I did have days where it was a struggle to get in all of the shakes & it sure wasn't cus I was full!! I was sick of them, especially afetr 12 weeks!!

Thank you huys soo much! I appreciate the tip on adding some flavors. I had my second appt today and did very well. lost another 5 pounds. As much as i find tmedifast to be on the yucky side apparently it works. I also got my ins approval. THIS IS REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN

I am so happy to hear this news.  The 28th will be here before you know it!  Keep up the good work with the Medifast.  Make sure that you start some walking, it will make the walking post op so much easier.  If you have any questions about your stay at Ellis, just ask.
