Attention Highland hosptial Baratric centerers!
My pre-op appt wasn't very long. The nurse just asked alot of questions then I had to wait for the Doctor to come in and review them again with me. I would say a total of 1/2 hour - 45 Min's for the whole thing. Course I did have to wait in the waiting room first to be called. But overall it was relatively painless and not too bad time wise. All they do is ask you a bunch of questions and take your blood pressure and run an EKG (which is a super quick test). All seemed rather mild and routine. They will give you a bunch of info for you to read over - kind of like a welcome packet to the hospital.
As for your surgery time you will get a number to call the night before and then they will tell you what time your surgery is scheduled for and what time you should report to the hospital.
Good Luck!

The night before? Oh boy, My mother in law is bringing me the day of the surgery. Ifs its really early I think she wants to go up the night before and get a hotel/motel room. But I dont see how that is possible with my son. My husband didtn get the day of my surgery off, so I am relying on a babysitter to watch matt while his dad is at work. So I basically am not going to know anything until the day before. Oh well what can you do. Im sure it will work out.
I'm pretty sure that it was the day before that you had to call. I'm a little fuzzy on the exact time - it seems like it was so long go instead of only 10 months. Maybe if you bring up this need to know at the pre-op they will be able to let you schedule the afternoon slot for your surgery. My surgery ended up being scheduled for 1pm and I didn't have to report to the hospital until 11 am.
the pre op visit is one of the few times you actually see the DR he will look over your paperwork give you a brief description of the surgery and answer your questions, if he's satisfied with everything he will walk you over to the scheduling nurse and have her schedule your surgery date...you will do fine good luck !

Good luck tomorrow with your appointment. Its no big deal. You will be given a number to call between 2-4 or 4-6 (can't remember) the day before (or friday before if you're scheduled for a monday) and they will tell you what time your surgery. Feels a little like flying by the seat of your pants not knowing the time until the day before, but just roll with it. Good luck to you!
