POSTOP Panel 8/21 WLS support group @ Alb Med Ctr
FYI I will b one of the postops on the panel, hope to see you!
Hello Fellow WLS Friends,
We are heading into the week that I have planned for a panel of WLS patients with more than 2 years out from surgery to share their journey, answer questions and hopefully not be shy about the good, bad and ugly. The group has been wanting this for a while as a very limited number of post ops come to the group and they are really only getting one or two people's experiences. I am hoping for an informal evening with people doing a brief introduction about their WLS; struggles, victories, complications, deficiencies or anything else you feel the group can benefit from. 5:30-7:30pm!
Right now we have pre-op and post-op people; considering lap band/laparoscopic or open RNY by Dr's Rosati; Singh; Dunnican. I am hoping to have good representation for all procedures and since Dr Dunnican is the newest, most people will be speaking about Dr's Rosati and Singh as their surgeon. I know some of you got back to me suggesting other people to invite or someone you know who is interested in also being on the panel. If you could forward this email onto them, I would appreciate it!
Group is held in J305 from 5:30-7:30. J305 can be tricky to get to so here's my directions but I also leave signs at the A elevator closest to the outside parking lot and the J elevator. If you come in and park in the parking garage, cross into AMC through the pedestrian bridge, come by the main information desk then take a left at the main corridor. Go all the way down this corridor to the 2nd A elevator bank. You can take this elevator up to the third floor or continue walking and turn right before you get to the outside entrance. This is essentially heading into the medical college wing. Go down that hallway and you'll see a bank of elevators on your right (the J elevators) and take that to the third floor. From either of these elevators, I have signs plastered around with arrows pointing in the direction of the room. If you come in from the outside parking lot in-between Alb Med and CAP, which is now called the Physician Pavilion, come in and take your immediate left into the medical college wing and go to the J elevator bank on your right and head the 3rd floor.
I would appreciate an RSVP so I know how to set up the room. I should be there by 5:00 to set up the room then I usually dash downstairs for a decaf Starbuck's. For those of you haven't been to Alb Med in a while, there is now a Starbucks across the street next to the parking garage...it beats the hospital coffee )).
I hope to have a case of water for us but just in case I forget to pick one up on Thursday, I'd suggest bringing something to drink...it can get heated in the room and all that chit chat can be dehydrating!
For those of you who can come THANK YOU all soooooo much!
See you Thursday~ Janet

Hello,
I know it mentioned that you will have people 2 years out. I have not had surgery and am scheduled for my initial info session on 8/28 at Ellis. I would love to attend a few support groups beforehand. would this be a session that I could attend?
I do not want to RSVP yet in case I cannot make it.
I am sure I will have some time before my actually surgery date.
Thanks for all your info. you have been very informative!
