every freakin time, i eat, or drink, it makes a gassy growling noise, and it hurts going down.. it feels like whatever i ate or dranked.. will come up.. like the air/gas is trying to dissapate and make room for the food/drink.  im tired of it.. and i cant even belch! i wish i could. maybe the food would go down.

does this happen to u and what do u do? can we have like beano before we eat? Gas-ex does nothing for me.. it only makes whatever i ate or drinked become all foamy inside and then vomit city!

i only eat 2 tsp of cream of wheat now adays becasue of vomiting issues. and about 16 oz of protein water a day... pls dont yell i know thats not enough.. but when ur constantly vomiting.. u really cant eat or drink.

and my surg's PA has said , without even seeing me.. that i dont have a stricture. WOW , maybe she has xray vision and she can see through the phone if i have it or not.. lol ( sarcastic laughter)

so....   does this happen to u? tummy issues?

thansk for the posts

Some pouches stay small and very swollen for quite some time, MONTHS...sometimes it is how fast we sip, or how fast we eat,or how well we do/do not chew that is a factor, and sometimes it is not a behavior at all and just our mechanics..The gurgle may happen shortterm or indefinately to a lesser degree.

Sounds as if you may have a picky pouch..We won't YELL at you, you are doing what you can and are educated on the postop recommended guidelines and consequences of not following...(for whatever reason they are not followed even no fault of the person).....At this time fluid is much more important than food, nausea is a bear if one gets dehydrated and even fatal, are you getting in more fluid than 16 oz day? That is a short road to dangerousness (i know you are aware) it may fuel the pain furtehr as well........

eating with a small baby spoon has helped folks, sipping out of a 2 oz medicine cup to slow drinking has helped folks.......belching does come as the swelling goes down....beano isn't the answer nor gasx, asx they are not the underlying issues I don't think anyways as you describe things.

Could be a stricture, an ulcer or again nothing more than a irritated pocuh, once ou vomit going to fluids for a day perhaps warm soothing ones has helped folks, do not even try foods after foaming/vomiting can help.

We have a slow leaky drain and the gurgling can as I said happen short/longterm to differing degrees.

Perhaps a trip to ER for som IV ydration and are oyou on a acid blocker of sorts to protect pouch? Have you considered asking for nausea meds? Getting out of the vicious nausea/dehydration look might be the trick, keep vomiting and keep getting sick over and over as pouchis raging angry! e well.

PS
forgot to add emotional distress adds greatly to ones tolerance of food/fluid early and late postop! THink when stressed how tense muscles are, well our insides get the same way..

Relaxation of any sort may also help greatly....
(yes things like medidation, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing, guided imagry, therapy, journaling)

Remember when the mind does not release emotions (weep) the body will release (weep) and other organ systems compensate, huge issue in depression people get very somatic (headaches, muscle aches, pains, upset stomachs, irritable bowel, colds etc)............
Taking care of our total self body mind spirit is sometimes helpful!

Hi Nanette,
My stomach made all those noises and still does to a certain extent after almost 6 months.  Some of us have more gas than others I guess.  I learned to get used to it, although I didn't have as much of a vomiting issue as you seem to have.  I discussed it with my PA and we came to the conclusion that in my case it seemed to be a problem with dairy products.  I had the most gas after I had eaten cheese and/or drank items with milk in them.  Maybe you just need to re-evaluate what you've had and go from there.  I would also get that way if I had eaten too much, although it didn't seem like I had eaten much at all.  I sometimes can eat 4 oz or more and then another time I would be lucky to get in 2.....you just never know.  Good luck to you.
