Hi donBab;Have you talked to Dr. Simon at upstates program.He is a fantastic surgeon and deals with many risky laprascopic  procedures.He is also a transplant surgeon,so he has seen it all.I would recommend you speak to him if  you have not at this point . good luck..patsy

Yes, I went to University.  I had Cunningham.  They would not operate on me.  Too risky.  You may not have read my history, but I have some "issues" that make my risk of death DURING the operation around 20%.  Yes, that number is correct 20%, 1 in 5.

I have lost 70 pounds since may 13 trying to reduce that risk.

Hello,

NY state disability is a given...MOST companies offer short term disability as well...and your doctors can tell your company this is not elective, because you could die if you do not have it.  BUT if they dont offer you short term, then the state will give it to you...it is a max of 170 something a week, but that is better than nothing.  See if there is someone nearby the hospital that you can stay with... good luck, and I hope you dont give up!
