Update and Work leave

WOOHOO!! Well I can pretty much say that my surgery is now 5 days away. I'm not quite nervous yet, more excited than anything, but every now and then I'll be thinking about it and out of the blue I will question myself if I really know what i'm getting myself into. I've spent the last few months, watching literally thousands of videos from the WLS community on youtube. The good and the bad. I know it's going to be hard but in the long run, when I don't have to have an entire shelf in the fridge saved for nothing but my insulin.. it'll be worth it.

I've done good on the liquid/veggie diet. I can't saw I haven't cheated though as twice I did have just a little bit of ranch dressing to dip some carrots into. I just needed to switch things up a little bit. As for the scale it's showing 7.8 pounds lost in the last week from the liquid/veggie diet... Although, I'm sure most if not all is water-weight.

Work has been beyond hectic the last day or so. Friday is my last day. I have to say getting ready to leave for 3 weeks is a full time job in itself. I've never realized just how much stuff I've been doing over the last 2 years that well I'm the only one that knows how to do it. Every day stuff that has to be done. So I've been having to show my boss everything.. the little systems and forms and other stuff I've developed to help my job go smoother.

At this point the only thing I can think about is the HUGE mess I'll be coming back to work to. All my customized spreadsheets that I had to hand over to someone else will be completely wacked up and ruined.  :(  I'm sure I'll be getting calls and emails after the first couple of days.. I can just feel it.

How do people manage to be away from work for so long?  It really is my biggest concern for some reason at this point...

Don't worry about work...just worry about YOU....This is important and you will need the three weeks to recovery.  Good luck...this is going to be a good thing!

Rosemary is right - don't worry about work!!! It'll be there whether you're going on a vacation or having surgery!! You will no doubt have to clean things up when you get back but your focus right now should be on you & the journey you are starting!!!! Focus on you & your health!! The energy to clean up the messes will come in time!!

I was out of work for 2 weeks - I had just gotten promoted in May but I never worried about it!!! Things take care of themselves & I knew that if I didn't focus on getting better the job didn't matter!!!

Take a deep breath & everything will be fine!!! Your big day is just around the corner!!!
