Well, I received a call and my first appointment with the surgeon is Sept 4th.  I know there will be alot more appointments and tests but I feel this is the beginning of the great adventure.
I have already seen my regular doctor and he started the 6 months weight loss process my insurance wants.

Congratulations on taking the first step towards a healthier you! The pre-op consultations can get a bit overwhelming, however, the payoff in the end is well worth the work. Good luck on your journey. Keep us informed on your progress.
Hugs,
Lisa

Hi Cross!  I read your previous posts about waiting to get an appt. in Syracuse, etc. and now I see you have one on 9/4.  They are great there! I am scheduled for my surgery on 8/20 with Dr. Cunningham.  I know that he will be leaving the area but he will be doing mine.  ANyway, I  wanted to say hello and to wish you goodluck in you quest to get healthy.
Have you met Marcy (the Nurse Practitioner there at the bariatric center yet?) She is super as is most of the staff there.
I know many have had Dr. Simon and also I have heard good things about Dr. Kim.  I really feel that they wouldn't have anyone who wasn't top notch in there doing the surgeries.

I have friends who have gone to the Utica area and had their surgeries there.  While most have had no complications per se, their program isn't as strong as far as follow-up as the one in Upstate is (IMHO).  Let me know who you have a consult with.  The program is a bit hard at first but they are flexible, and will work with you to guide you.

I have not lost alot of weight pre-surgery, but I have learned alot.  I am larger than most patients (around 380#) so I have alot to lose and hope this surgery will at least be the tool I need.
Sorry so long winded, I get carried away!! Best of luck to you, Cross, and keep me posted, please.  Bye.  Molly P. (Mary)

I haven't met anyone yet.  My appt is with Dr Kim.  He is the one that gave the seminar I went to.  I received the paperwork today in the mail.  It said something about if I have results of current bloodwork and EKG I should bring that too so I will contact my doctor and get that from him because I have all of that from a hysterectomy I had in April.  I figure the more I bring with me the better and less red tape in the future.
