Queens Support Groups

Are there any support groups for lap banders in the Bayside area?

I'd like to know too.  I had my surgery out in Syosset...  but it would be much more convenient to go to a support group locally in Queens.  But I am going out to Syosset tonight for one...  since i'm in bandster hell and want to eat the entire kitchen sink!

How did you hear about the meeting in Syosset.....where, and when?

My surgeon's office has a free support group the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm at the North Ritz Club, 7150 Jericho Turnpike, Syosset.  This meeting is open to pre & post band patients from anywhere.  They do have another post-band support group, but only for their patients on the 3rd tuesday of each month, but they charge $20 each time for those.  The generic one the first tues of each month has a bunch of post-op people, but there is an informational component at the beginning about the band which is definitely geared to people just starting looking into it.  And then they always have a few patients speak about their experience which is always inspirational to hear.

I googled about that meeting in whitestone.  It is the Queens Metro Weight Loss Surgery Group.  They have a yahoo group page here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Queensmetrowls/

I joined the group... there is nothing yet about a recent meeting.  Seems like the last meeting scheduled was in June... the leader, Lenny, was away in Mexico in July.  They are meeting to walk together this thurs night in Eisenhower park.
