where to eat in albany, im 3 wks post-op, taking kids out
I personally would stay away from McDonald's & Burger King at this stage. Subway might have soups you can tolerate but no noodles or cream soups & try to make sure they're low-fat. I would try Wendy's. I think I may have had their chili... it worked well as long as I chewed a lot & ate slow. I could only eat half a small one. Just be careful - it's a tricky slope to tred so early out. I was scared to death to eat out for about 6-8 weeks. I'd rather find out something didn't work at home than out with family or friends at a restaurant but I know with kids it's not always easy to do it the way I did. Good luck!!!

Probably NO where at 3 weeks, take a cheese stick with you and go wherever they want to eat. Or ring protein powder in a dry empty water bottle add water and ice, shake and drink while they eat. 3mo seemed a time when many go out and can eat say shrinp coctail as a meal or some soups or a small salad deoending on your nutrition recommendations. I personally wouldnt go to mcdonalds ever again..I kept away 4 yrs, and once I knew I could eat something it was a slippery slope. Just my 2 cents. or take some hot broth with you in a large hot mug....

Nanette,
I think I have to agree with Jamie, especially if you are going to be alone with your children. With the history of most foods and liquid causing you GI upset, I would only stick with things you know will settle well. I have found that just because something settles well at home, that they can make it differently than you do and it may not settle well in a restaurant. Cece's comment about Wendy's chili would be a good option down the road. My wife picked me up some and I had it at home someplace between 4 and 6 weeks post op, it settled well, but the small cup lasted quite a while. It was just not as good as home made chilli.
Early on I would have a glass of unsweetened ice tea or light (?lite) lemonaide if they had it and just drink liquids. I really did not go out for dinner until 3 months post op. I went to friendly's had some chicken and it did not settle well, not as moist as I make at home. I have also been out on date nights with Michelle to a local seafood place. We have split a seafood platter with lobster, scallops, shrimp and fish (broiled) and an order of king crab. We tolerated both fine, but again we had tolerated similar foods well at home. I also find that after about 2 months post op, I tolerate things so much easier.
Good Luck
Jim
