Brooklyn?
Hi. I hope you are pleased with how it went.
I chose to go with the micro pouch that Dr. Sapala performs. It is actually the only one he personally performs. If a patient prefers lap band or a more traditional RNY then he refers you to his colleagues who I understand also have hours at the location in Bay Ridge as well as offices on Staten Island.
I went into the hospital on a Wednesday and came home on Friday. I was on the operating table for two hours and both the doctor and his NUT Mary feel I have been doing so well because I followed all of the pre-surgical directions including quitting smoking and the low carb/high protein diet. I am not running marathons yet but I wasn't before surgery either.
My staples are out so moving around is much easier. My body quickly tells me if I eat too fast. I know what it is like to feel full now.
As of two weeks ago I lost 15 pounds. I see him again tomorrow.
The practice has a support group for pre-op and post-op patients the third Wednesday of every month so not next Wednesday the 13th but the following one 8/20. I went to the one before my surgery and missed the July one because that was the evening of my surgery. I found it very helpful.
I hope this is helpful.
