Hi Nanette... You need to wait 6 months for fresh fruits & veggies with Dr. Clark, Ingram & P.. Your pouch needs to heal good and be able to tolerate raw fruits & veggies... My surgery was January 25th and I've just started back on salads.. If you have any questions, please feel free to email our Nut Evelyn at Ellis Hospital (you can pm me for her email address). She's awesome and will get back to you quickly. She's really good at telling us what we can and can't have at each stage and how many calories we should be trying to get in and our protein... :) Good luck,

Most of these items are too fibrous & hard to digest raw... I am 9 months out & still have to limit the lettuce but I can have whatever I want as far as veggies right now but some I do peel (reg cukes for example but english ones no & I de-string celery before I eat it). Honestly it may seem like they're tormenting us but they're not... they know what problems these things can cause!! The NUT that they send us to never told me what I could & couldn't eat (my SIL who is a NUT told me) but when I went to see the surgeon for my follow ups - ok, mostly the PAs (Evelyn & Michael) - they told me what I could add at each appt. Hang in there!!

I replied to your post about the ground turkey on the main board. Also I believe you can find some of the sf syrups at the grocery stores in the coffee aisles & I think someone said once that Wal-mart & Marshalls might carry them. There is also on-line. Look for Torani or DaVnci brands.

Ive been eating salads and veggies 5 months out, I guess everyone is different, but the better foods are processed with sugar free supplements. just an idea

i can have fruit and veggies 3 months out but you have to be careful they told me no apple skins and if i eat an orange to spoon it out like a grapefruit the fibers surrounding the orange are too fibrous to break down  they will cause pain and discomfort. I can eat pickles, tomatoes, leafy greens, cuc's radishes no problems just chew and eat slow

It amazes me how different each surgeon is in regards to the post op diet.  I can understand that each individual would be able to tolerate different foods (what I tolerate well can change every day), but you would think that there would be more of a consensus about when to add different foods.  I guess we just have to follow the protocol for our individual surgeon.

yeah thanks u guys for the advise. see every time i call there , its the same ol answer. they tell me, dont u have the lil paper the nutrionist gave u? follow that. ok my butrionist sadi, fruits veggies is ok, no pine apple, oranges, etc.. which is ok with me.

my prob is, that i need more guidance, just reading something with a list of foods, dont cut it for me.
