Today I turned 32 and it was my last day to eat...

Today was my 32nd birthday and tomorrow I have to start my two week pre-op liquid diet.   Kind of funny how the timing worked out like that.   It really is like starting a new year of life off with some major change.   I had a nice "last dinner" birthday dinner with my family (yeah, I had a slice of the black forest cake they brought for me) then went shopping for all my all liquid diet necessaties...

I have to say I'm pretty confused about the protein thing.   It's not as easy finding powder as I thought it would.  I wish there were "samples".  So you know if you like something before buying a larger container of it.    I did pick up some packs of the high protein ensure and boost that the nut said was ok.  I'm going to have to find more protein though because it's still not going to be enough unless I drink like 8 a day.. which is out of the question.     I am allowed some no/low carb veggies during the day like cukes, tomatoes, celery and carrots..  That will help, especially when I'm at work.

Candi,
Happy belated birthday!!! This is the first of many fabulous years to come!!! My bday was one week before the start of my liquid diet last year & we had a knock-out cookout!!!! The entire week leading up to that day was filled with all of the foods I craved!! It may not have been the "right" thing to do but it helped me get through!!!

I am no help whatsoever when it comes to protein powders. I hate all of them!! I did Medifast through my surgeon for 12 weeks & I could only tolerate the chocolate. Actually the only one I have right now that I like (used in Eggface's protein ice cream recipes only) is Matrix Chocolate. There are a few websites out there where you can buy protein samples. This is one: http://www.bariatriceating.com/ - you can't buy samples per se but they have travel kits that include 5 single serving size packets. I had a website in the beginning that I bought samples of a lot of different powders from I wish I could rememeber the name of it!! I will look around & see if I can find the name of it. Keep in mind too that what tastes good to you pre-op may not post-op!!

Good luck!! Remember it's going to be tough but the ultimate outcome is going to be so worth it!!!! You can do it!!!

BINGO!!! WOO HOO! Here it is... it came to me as I was starting to shut down my pc...
http://www.vitalady.com/index.htm You can purchase samples of just about every protein they sell & inexpensively I might add!!!! Check them out!!! They shipped pretty quickly too if I remember correctly!!!!
Ok, off to my 9 month follow up & I pray my scale is reading a little high today!!

Hi, Candi! Happy (belated) birthday! I also just turned 32 on July 18th.  I did buy a sample of protein powders and ready to drink shakes on bariatriceating.com. I think there were 12 different proteins plus Susan Maria's book about WLS for $55.99. Here is the link:

Good luck with your liquid diet!
