When to buy new clothes?
Ok.. this may be a silly question but how long was it before you really needed new size clothes?
I'm scheduled for surgery in less than 3 weeks. I start my two week liquid diet on Monday. Between the liquid diet and the weight loss after surgery.. I'm thinking that by the time I head back to work I will be down at least a size? (currently in a 18/20)
The thing is I work on the corporate side for a local bank, and have to dress pretty professionally. So I really can't be looking too "baggy" if you know what I mean. Should I start looking for/picking up a size or two smaller clothing now? I just have no idea what to expect. Any suggestions and personal experience idea would be great.

It happen for me about 4 weeks out - my jeans were getting a bit too big - they'd fall down my arse as I walked up the stairs to my apartment. I did break down & buy new ones & have all along but it took me longer to bite the bullet for tops.
A lot of people go to second-hand shops, thrift stores, salvation army - those places - you don't want to spend a lot of money or you'll go broke!! Once you start changing sizes it can go quickly!! I hit the web a lot scoping out the clearances & sales & have done pretty well that way. Lately I have turned to ebay & have hit a gold mine!! I had to reign myself back in though!! I am finally into a 2x & it feels so good to have so many choices!!
You might want to look into having your items altered too, especially if they are well made suits & stuff. You'd be amazed what a good tailor can do!!!
Good luck!!!

when my pants are falling off of me... and not a moment sooner.. LOL Otherwise I'd be spending a huge amount of moola on new clothes. I need new capri's now but I'm trying to hold out for a few more weeks.

If you want to start looking at some garage sales now that isn't a bad idea, but don't go crazy. I found that I was dropping sizes about every 4 to 5 weeks, although I could wear the same tops a bit longer than that. I'm down 6 sizes since about December so you do the math. I did find that if I bought too much of one size that I only got to wear those items once or twice if at all. I'm now between a 10 and a 12 and have only about 5 outfits to wear and it's driving me nuts. I'm trying to find items at lawn sales but I'm not having as much luck in that department as I did at the beginning of the summer. I understand your problem as I work in an office also and need to dress professionally, it's kind of a hit or miss kind of thing. And you definately don't want to pay alot of money for clothes that your not going to be able to wear in a month. Good luck.
i am brand-spanking new at this as of today's date---however i just happened upon your note and said "aha, maybe i can help!!!" all kidding aside...i have heard other people suggest possibly using a second-hand store or a thrift shop or a consignment shop or rummage sale or garage sale-ing etc etc etc....you get the idea i am sure.....you should be able to find the kind of things you are looking for! hope this helps good luck diane
Hi Candy! Don't spend too much on clothes, you will drop weight very fast.Just the liquid diet alone will affect your weight.I only had to be on the liquid diet 3 days before surgewry and I lost 11 lbs.I was a 48" waist.I had a lot of cloths that did'nt fit before so I went "shopping " in my own closet.I'm sure many can do the same.I then bought some 40" jeans then some 36" jeans. When I got to 36" I bought many because I thought that would be the end.Wrong! I'm now in 32" slacks.I'm sure this is the ending result as I've been here for 4 months.Life is great! I wish you the best of luck,Bob

I agree with everyone else. Try garage sales, thrift stores, salvation army. Also check the clearance racks. I still shop those places even though I am pretty much at a standstill right now. I hate paying full price for clothes that I will stay in, for now or not long at all. You can find some good buys. My mom does sewing so she took in a lot of my clothes for me. That helped out alot. As I grew out of the size I gave it to my moms coworkers who could use them. I was a size 20/22 and am now a 8/10. Good luck on the surgery and keep me posted.

Hello,
Before surgery I was a size 22/24...after I wore a lot of big baggy pants, elastic waiste. I think it was like 8 weeks before I needed new size.. but I was lucky cause my mom had the surgery before me, and I get all her clothes. I am almost 4 months out and now in a size 18...i got lots of them from my mom, and 14 and 16 are waiting for me now that she is in a 10/12. I wouldnt buy anything now, just have lots of comfy clothes on hand!
