Hi Everyone!!  I have some great news that I wanted to share.  I went to the doctors last week and since I have done everything they wanted me to do. Plus I lost 17 pounds in a little more than 5 weeks. My insurance company requires that you lose at least 5% of your weight. The doctor told me that we can go forward and get the lap band done. My surgery date is scheduled for September 8th. He wanted to get me in next month, but his secretary told me he is already booked for the month.  I am allergic to Latex, so they want me to get in first thing in the morning so they can have everything prepped for me. Needless to say I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 in the morning!  I was assured the doctor will be bright eyed and bushy tailed. I told them I sure hope so, because I won't be!! I'm sure I won't sleep the night before anyway. Now I just have to wait for the paperwork to be submitted to my insurance company and get approved!!  I hope everything goes smoothly.  I don't see any reason why the insurance company would deny me.

I just got my surgery date this week as well, so I know how exciting to know that the end (or actually the beginning) is right around the corner.

I work for a regional bank and we have RMSCO insurance... I'm not exactly how it works, but bascially the bank self-insures us employees.  Bascially the only thing they required was the normal 40 bmi, or 35+ with a co-morb.    They do like to have documention of being obese for 3+ years, so all I did was have my PCP office compile my weight from my visits over the past 3 years and evidently that was good enough.   The surgeons office submitted for approval in the morning and they had an answer early afternoon.      I'm going with the Lap RNY..
