Finally! Appt w/ Viglianco!!!!

The hospital floor is very nice and everyone is very helpful. Dr. Caruana was/is my surgeon, but I have seen Dr Viglianco for both of my follow up appointments because Dr. C was out of the office. He is a very nice guy! It is sooo exciting to have an appointment and once you are seen everything will go very quickly, so enjoy all of the bad foods you may never have again, now! .

thanks!  yeah, the NUT said she would be about 2 weeks, but I think Synergy will call soon to tell me that the psych said I have to see the NUT... Im not sure if they know I already went!!!
the psych was a little blunt with me... but he did say that i was a good candidate and would do well with the surgery... I am 5'3" (barely) and I am about 225 if I havent lost any weight... (which is highly unlikely since I have been enjoying foods that I have avoided my entire dieting life!!!) so my BMI is 39.9.  Other than seeing the NUT... the psych didnt say I had to go to anything else (to my face... I'm not sure what he said in the report!!!  I asked for it to be sent to me as well but I havent received anything in the mail yet!)  He did tell me that if I was interested I could contact him or someone else for further counseling but he made it seem like only if I wanted to...

If anyone had Viglianco and had Lap RNY... did he make you go on a 2 week liquid diet???  The NUT mentioned this (it helps the liver i guess)... I just keep thinking that if I am on a 2 week liquid diet... I will lose a ton of weight... I dont drink either... so I wonder if I will have to do this...

Yes, I did have to go on the two week liquid diet.  It is meant to shrink your liver and I did lose 20 lbs in those two weeks.

That is great about going to the NUT first to make it go by faster.

I am seriously considering the lap band over the bypass.

It sounds like the psych thought you were a better candidate than me. Maybe it is b/c my BMI isn't as high as some who see him...who knows.
It doesn't matter now. I have an appt!
Can the doctor deny me after I have done all of this?
I am afraid that I will be denied after waiting so long.

i was the opposite!  i was dead set on the lapband and then after a ton of research i chose to go for the RNY...
about denying you?  i cant say for sure but im pretty sure they make you jump through all the hoops so that by the time you see the doc your pretty much a shoe in (so the doc doesnt waste his and your time *im assuming...)... if they thought there was something to worry about i think they would have brought it up by now... but im always worried about the same thing!!!
i just want my appointment already!!!!  geez!  lelito said he sent the report... i went to the NUT but her report will take another week or so... but i really thought they would have called after getting the psych report.. :o(

You're right about the denying part.  They really make sure you will be approved b/f an appt. Thats why you have to get all of the reports b/f hand.

I heard that many drs. will not perform rny on people with lower bmi's due some reason..I forgot what.

They will definitely call you when they get her report. They wait until everything is in. What a long process!
