Well, I have been waiting for months and finally was called yesterday for an appt!
My appt. is last week of August.
I am hoping to have the surgery by November.
It has been hard for me because of my BMI being a 35-36 but finally I was approved for an appt. This has consisted of letters from 2-3 or my doctors, sleep study, blood tests, counseling etc.

Has anybody else gone to see Viglianco?

Now it is really setting in.....I can be thin for the first time in my life. I have never felt that-EVER-even as a child.

Good for you!
Would you let me know what the appt. consists of after you go?

Will do... Feels like you have to jump through a lot of hoops even before you get to meet the doctor.  What if after all the testing, the shrink and the nutritionist, you aren't comfortable with the doc......then what, start over?  Kind of seems like a backward process.  Will let you know next Wednesday.

Dr. Viglianco did my surgery on June 27th.  I am so happy that I had it done.  Once you get through the first consultation things happen pretty quickly.  During my initial appointment he explains the surgery, asks for questions, and gives you a pre-op diet and a time line of what to expect.  It usually takes a couple weeks for approval, then they schedule a surgery date and nutrition class.  I had to wait until June 27th as I am a teacher, otherwise it would have been about two months from initial consultation to surgery.  Good luck!

So you just had surgery!
How did it go? How are you adjusting?
I am a teacher too and unfortunately will have to miss some work.
How long do they want you out of work in regards to healing time?
How are you feeling now?

Surgery went well I will be 4 weeks out tomorrow.  I am teaching summer school and feel fine.  My surgery, as I said, was on June 27th and I started with summer school on July 7th.  So far I am doing really well including the two week pre-op liquid diet I have lost 46lbs.  It does take a long time to find foods that you can tolerate.

I am waiting to see Dr. Viglianco too!  I went to post op meeting on the 8th, had my psych on the 9th, and went to the NUT today... I was hoping to get in soon, but if you just got called and your not getting in until the last week of August then I will have a ways to go still...  I even tried to hurry it along by seeing the NUT ahead of time (before they even got the psych consult saying he recommended that i see one!)
I was hoping for a call this week!  They said they would call when they got my psych report and the psych said he had send it already...
If anyone has time... keep me updated on the process with Dr. V!
I am going for Lap RNY...

Bella,
I could have gone on Aug. 20 th but will be away so had to make it the following week so you may get in sooner than you think.  He only sees patients on Wed. too which makes it longer.

I had to do some extra things too according to Lelito's report. Seeing a nutritionist wasn't  something he recommended but he wanted me to see a counselor first. He really makes it tougher for us.  He seemed against the surgery from the beginning- very negative-made some strange comments etc.

They will probably need something from the nutritionist before they call you. That could be the hold up. I would give them a call anyway.

Yes, It is such a long process!!

One other thing to add which is kind of ironic:

I had emergency back surgery last week and my back surgeon shares a floor with vig and Caruana.
It is a very nice floor!  All single rooms.  They bariatric side even has flat screen tv's.
They just re-did the rooms the nurses said not too long ago.

It is a small floor too. There always seemed to be a nurse arround.

They aides and nurses were saying that the gastric bypass patients need to use the bathroom a lot so they were doing that a lot!
