1 year ago today...
...I started the hardest part of my wls journey - the 12 week Medifast program prescribed by my surgeon. I remember it like it was yesterday!! OMG - the first few days, ok weeks, were hard as hell but I was so gung-ho that I stuck to it with everything I had!! It wasn't until I was about 6 weeks into it that I had had enough!! I wanted food, primarily McDonald's & buffalo wings (I was such a junkie) and I was mad because I couldn't have them!!
Well needless to say I made it through the tough times & here I am, 5 days away from being 9 months post-op & doing really well!! I knew back then that this would work but to this extent, so quickly? No way!!! I can honestly say that I am proud of myself that I have made it this far!! I haven't been to a McDonald's (or any drive thru) in a year & as for my prized buffalo wings, well I make a version of the sauce to put on chicken & make a low-fat blue cheese & I am happy as a clam!!! Who says you have to deprive yourself - all you need to do is improvise!!! I even made Shelly's (aka Eggface) protein ice cream yesterday & OMG - it's AWESOME!! Now I have a way to use up my 5lb bag of chocolate protein powder that I couldn't otherwise stomach and get in extra protein!!! Life is good!!! ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/biggrin.gif)

Cece -As I read your success I am trying to use you as one of my many positive reasons as to why I am having WLS ! Congratulations on your success and for really sticking with it!! I expect I will encounter many longings for foods that put me where I am in the 1st place but then reading stories like yours really do help and encourage people like me *****ally need to read them!! Keep up the good work, ok? I can only hope I will be as successful as you are and also inspire others like you are doing. Take care! Molly P. (Mary)
