Dr.posner appt
Hi I just wanted to update you all - I called Dr posner office because i had not recieved a letter for my first app with their office- So then finally weeks after my call I recieved it and it is for the end of aug- Its seems so far away- and this is just the begining-
My friend who also decided to get the surgey after we spoke about it- applied around the same time- she went for her seminar a month before me- and she called them they made her an appt right away and she is already having the surgery this month- I am happy for her just not understand how they made their descion-
Do you think its based on weight and health problems- ? I actually would think so- but she is not on any medications and does not have health problems and her bmi is not obese-
Anyone know why one person would get an appt faster as well as have the surgery already-? Anyone else have posner?
we had orginal hoped to have surgery around teh same time but as it seems she is getting in done this month and i dont have an appt until next month-

You got more than I have gotten, I sent my paperwork in in February and called a few weeks after to see if they got my paperwork, left several messages I STILL have never received a call back from his office. I got tired of waiting and went with another Dr in Buffalo, and had surgery 3 wks ago. Good luck with his office, I am less than impressed with him to say the least.

I did not have to go to a seminar for Dr.Caruana. I just had to see a psychologist and nutritionist. I contacted Dr. Caruana in March to get the paperwork, went to the psychologist and nutritionist and saw Dr. Caruana for my first appt on 5-5-08. I then had to wait a few weeks for approval for surgery and then was scheduled on 6-23-08. In the beginning it felt like a long process, but now that its over, it really flew by.
Im doing well and feeling well. I went back to work after 2 weeks. It is sometimes hard and I have my down days, but overall Im a happy I did it.

Hi-Who did you see for a Psychologist and nutrientist? Did they tell you who you had to see for a psychologist?
I had my paper work in back in feb and I am just getting my first appt- and this is not with the dr- but with the nurse- etc- then I guess they put you on the south beach diet etc so ita long process with dr posner- I think anyway- considering I mentioned this to my friend and she is having surgery july 23 - we put our papers work ing around the same time- BUt my first choice was Dr caurana!
My choice also is teh gastric not the lap band- i have lots of weight to lose- Can I ask- do you have medical problems also- ? Thanks for all your help- Can you fill me in on who to contact at caruana and discuss this with them- as I amy want to change to him-leaving my options open-And let me know who you seen for Pyshgoist and nutrientist

The Psychologist I saw was Dr. Ron Lelito (he is on Main St in Williamsville), I didnt have to see him, but he is who Dr C's office recommended. I know there is someone at Suburban Psychiatric who also does the psych exam for WLS patients (make sure you ask if they do the exam before you schedule an appt). The nutrtionist was one of Dr Lelito's suggestions (not all patients pursuing surgery have to see one before they see Dr. Caruana) I saw Maria Weber(she has her own practice but also works with Dr. C) her ph# is667-9596.
THe only medical problem I have is high blood pressure. But I am 28yrs old and also have a family history of diabetes, high cholesterol. So i just wanted to lose weight before all of that sets in!
Dr, Caruana is such a great/informative. and helpful Dr. , and his Physicians Assistant Marc who assists with surgery is also just as great. I am very happy with my choice. You can contact their office at 565-3990 and press the option for becoming a weight loss surgery patient. They also have another Dr. who does it laparascopically (mine was open RNY) who is also very good.
