How's Everyone Doing With Their Activity/Exercise This Summer?

It's hard to keep the pace going when it is so darn hot outside - isn't it? It's so easy to talk yourself out of it so I just do it without thinking too much about it. I don't know about you guys, but I it wouldn't take much for me to settle down in my recliner instead. I just pray that I can keep this going. I've been here and done that in the past. I am still walking 3 miles a day with the pupster.  ( sometimes more. )  She bows her head down so I pour about a gallon of nice refreshing water over her head and body and loves it. She's so cute. Then when we hit 1 mile, I share some of my bottled water in a bathroom sized cup that I have folded in my pocket. We make a good team. On weekends, hubby and I walk 4.5 miles on the boardwalk or have been hiking at a nearby park. We hate/enjoy it if you get my drift. It feels great when it's over! I really wished that I had been lifting weights all this time since surgery. My intentions are always good. Oh well.  Somehow, someway I will try to work that into my life.  Any how, I'm just checking in to say, "HI", and seeing how other folks are trying to stay active this summer.

Hi Diane I developed a new hobby here...road bike riding!! My SIL talked me into getting a bike and I'm so happy I did!! I did my 1st long ride on 6/1, it was a Bike, Boat, Bike tour of Shelter Island and I rode 25 miles! 2 weeks later I rode 40 miles with the Tour De Force. Now I'm getting out every weekend and averaging about 30 miles and it feels GREAT. I've been slacking on the gym because I'm taking a summer course now and happy it's almost over!! I'm tired of working FT days then going to school 4 nights a week from 6- 9:20pm. Anyway have a great rest of the summer!!!

Wow! That's terrific.  Riding all those miles, I would think, makes up for slacking at the gym. I'm glad that  you're having a good time with it. Happy Biking!

My intentions are always good but lately I have been super busy & have more excuses than I care to admit!!! I hate this humid weather & while I can function better in it because of the weight loss I still freakin' hate it!!! I try to go for a walk every day at work but this past 2 weeks I am doing the work of several people & working late almost every night to do my own work before my deadline of this Friday afternoon. My "own time" has been extremely limited!! Sucks sometimes being the boss!!! The good thing is that I have a nice long weekend coming up in a few days & I will be spending it with my 4 yr old niece & we will be busy every day!! I am bound to get in some exercise keeping up with her!!! Keep up the good work!! I give you credit for getting out there & moving!!! I am wokring on it!!! Cece

Hi Cece! You're sooo right about keeping up after a 4 yr. old. It sounds like you are really earning this long weekend coming up. LOL Although it may still will be warm, I think they predict much drier air for the week end  - if you can believe the weather people, that is.  No matter what, hot is hot. P.S.  You are doing  an incredible job BTW. I'm so thrilled for you, Cece.

Thanks - I am at a stall right now - which has been normal every month around that "special" time but this month it is ******g me off for some reason!! I did have some movement on the scale yesterday so hopefully it's broken & I can get back in the groove!! I know they just said hot & humid again for the weekend up here but it doesn't matter I am still taking her to the places I have planned... Hoffman's Playland (a cute little amusement park of sorts that has been a fixture around here for years), of course we have to go to the Disney Store - God forbid, and then Sunday there is a Kid's Fest in downtown Albany so we can pop in there & meet up with a good friend of mine & her 4 yr old daughter!!! She'll have a blast no matter what!! I will melt but that's why they make air conditioners!!!!! Cece

I've actually been doing well in the activity dept. Alot of yard work outdoors and indoors I've been doing Hip Hop Abs....I love it! It's been a long time since I enjoyed exercise.
