When we are not present this is when we are not aware of what is going on or our defenses take over. Can you take a hard look at your food/exercise and areas you could improve?
Wt loss preop is not only about motivation it is to decrease risks of surgery. They are doing this for your benefit, safety even if your sa, frustrated or angry rightnow.
Do all you can and go back with what is the best you can do. that is all you can do and all you have control over. The surgey is not a cure all, and preop wt loss helps us practice lifestyle changes we will need to do postop.......

Nanette,
Are you on the Medifast liquid diet? Dr. Clarke had me on 5 shakes a day, mix them with water and ice in a blender. I would supplement the shakes with water and herbal tea. Remember no sweetners, milk etc in you drinks, these will make you feel much more hungry. It is ok to add extracts to your shakes for a change in flavor (Cece told me all about this). I only really liked the chocolate and I would add peppermint, almond, coconut, raspberry, strawberry extracts to give me just a different taste.
You can loose this week. I had a week that I lost 18 pounds, so please do not give up hope. I think I can safely say that everyone here is rooting for you.
If I can be of any assistance, please feel free to send me an email.
Jim

Nanette,
I really think feeling emotional is just part of the experience of WLS. It seems that everyone goes through a period pre-op and post-op where their emotions are just below the surface. Not really that bad, makes you appreciate all that your loved ones mean to you! I hope all goes well with Dr. I, review what you have been doing with her and see if she has any suggestions. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

When I was heading to the final visit before my operation, I had not changed a thing. I did not cheat. I did not lose focus. However, I did not lose. I gained...GAINED. I was 3 lbs away from my target weight that I worked towards for over a year. I GAINED 15 LBS! I know where it came from...MY RETARDED LEGS!! Dr. Singh's "egore" told me I was still scheduled and to keep working on it. I did. I honestly tried. I could not get the last 15 off. I got 10 lbs of it off....and then it gained back. YES. I think that the mental state effects weight control. Stress adds weight. Weight adds stress.
