Surgery tomorow
Ok, did everyone get scared before their surgery. All of a sudden I am really scared. I am terrified that something is going to go wrong and I will die on the table. I just got done writing letters to my children, telling each one how special they are. I have instructed my mother to give them to them if anything happens to me. Is this normal..... To top it all off, I found out my housband told my 14 year old daughter that he is worried about something happening. Sorry for rambling.
Dawn
Hi Dawn --
Wow! Your date is here already! Take a deep breath, you WILL be fine. You're being brave by taking this step to get healthier. Your children will benefit so much by having you healthy for a long time to come.
Your surgery will go fine. You know our docs are wonderful. I think you said you are having the new partner. I've heard great things about him, and I know Dr. C would only partner with an excellent surgeon.
You will have little ups and downs in adjusting to your new way of eating, drinking, but that will be the worst of it. I will look forward to seeing you at the support meeting in a couple of weeks.
Yes, your fears/anxieties are natural and normal. Everyone has had them. But you really will be fine.
Remember to walk as much as you can and take your sips and pain meds when you need them.
I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you to have a sense of calm as you go for surgery and a quick and easy recovery.
All the best to you --
Maria

I think it is normal to get nervous before your surgery. I had my RNY last July and I was so scared from the moment I found out when my surgery would take place. But I had great faith in that my Dr. was one of the best surgeons and they had ran every test possible to make sure that I would be safe. Everything will turn out for the best. Good luck and keep everyone posted on your journey. Tracy
