MVP insurance and revision

I am in the process of researching a revision.  I have an appointment with Dr. Singh at Albany Med in July.  I was told that he does some revisions.  This is only a starting point and I am not even sure I want to go that route.  I called MVP today and they said that it is a once a lifetime benefit.  My first surgery was not paid for by them so I wonder if that makes a difference.

I have gained about 80 pounds in the last few years.  I had RNY in 2002 and got down to 213 and I am 291 now.  I had an upper GI and found that my stoma is larger than it should be.  Waiting for more information from Dr. Singh.  I was told he likes to do his own endoscopy so may find out more then.  Until that time I have started  trying to get back to the basics like when I first had surgery.  I am eating only one cup of food per meal.  1/2 protein and the other half a vegetable.  Not drinking with meals and only small snacks if I need one.

Back to my original question.  Has anyone had MVP pay for a revision when there was a medical reason.  My BMI is back over 40 and I have other medical problems creeping back up on me.

THanks for any help you can give.

I think your policy would state info on revidions, as My MVP and yours may have different policy info in it depending on our employers choice in coverage. Singh has done revisions I know at least failed VBG to RNY. Please keep us informed. Insurance may pay if medically necessary, and sometimes IF you meet criteria for an original surgery. Some policies specifically EXCLUDE a revision. Can you call MVP and ask for a copy of your policy?

Glad you are back to basics with things, do you feel any more full this way?

So far I actually do feel more full.  I am not going to get ahead of myself, but if I continue feeling like this I may be able to do this on my own.  I am still going to see Dr. Singh as I have not had adequate follow up.  It would be nice to actually lose some weight prior to my appointment with him so I could show him that I do want to take care of this.   MVP only told me that weight loss surgery is not excluded on my policy, but that it is a once in a lifetime benefit.  I just wasn't sure becaus they weren't the ones who paid for it the first time around if they may pay for it.   Thanks for your input.
