Hello all,  I haven't been here in quite some time, all the bureaucracy in the world has been working against me in this looonnnnggg process of getting my surgery (I've been seeing doctors, etc. since mid-December).  Nevertheless, it now looks like Highland Hospital will be the scene of my life-altering surgery.  Where can I stay for the six days post-op that is near to the hospital.  And did I read somewhere that there is a shuttle bus service that is available?   And can anyone tell me approximately how far from the Grehound Bus Terminal in Rochester is Highland?  Thanks and everyone have a happy day!  Mary-Anne

The Hospital has a deal with the RIT INN and Conference center the same lady who schedules your surgery will book you a room its only 40$ a night and they will shuttle you to and from the hospital in the van from the hotel at no charge    the rooms are very nice they have 2 restaurants in the hotel a workout room and it isnt far from the hospital

The longest of Journeys start with a single step
(90 lost pre-surgery)

Thanks, Ken, that certainly makes life easier.  You're a dear to respond so quickly and ease my mind.  Take care, Mary-Anne

I don't have any further answers to your question as I'm local and didn't have to stay anywhere but I just wanted to say you will be in great hands @ highland. I never had any problems with the hospital or Dr. O'Malley's group. Good luck on your journey!

Well, luanna_bananna, that certainly is a great recommendation and provides a lot of confidence in my decision to go with the Doc and the Hospital.  I have congenital heart disease so none of the hospitals or clinics I have contacted so far have agreed to perform my surgery.  I'm hoping that if, and when, I have OHIP approval , (I have been flying through hoops and turning cart wheels for OHIP to get this surgery) because bariatric surgery and cardiac surgery are two of the hospital's specialties, they will accept me.  Thank you and take care, Mary-Anne

I had my surgery at Highland as well!  I LOVE that hospital!  I wish I lived locally so I could go there for everything!  You'll be in great hands!  Good luck to you.

I don't know what your surgery date is but if you have not gone yet......Please be very careful
at the bus terminal. It is in a not so great part of rochester. The police monitor the area but just be aware. You will like Highland they will take good care of you!!
