i ahve Dr. Ingrahm. I wanted Dr. Clarke but he was too out in his shcedule. but i met her and i like her, the only thing i didnt like is that she has only 102 surgeries under her belt and she has been doing this for a little over 2 yrs. and she mostly does lap bypass. what do u all think? am i stupid to feel a little less than confident in her skills? or should i be happy that she is a fairly  new doc that probably  knows a lot of new ways to do it, and she has not had any deaths on her yet.  im nervousssssssssssss, my surgery is less than 2 weeks away, what should i do???  pls help me

All the doctors at Ellis are wonderful. I had Dr. Pandemanglore and was very pleased, everyone I have talked with that has gone there has been happy with Dr. Clark, Dr. Ingram and Dr. Pandemanglore.

Things will go fine, follow doctors orders and relax (the best you can!)

You're surgery is less than 2 weeks away?? OMG - that means my bday is less than 2 weeks away!! How'd that happen?!! It is very normal to be nervous but I can tell you that Dr Lirio (who ran the practice before retiring in Oct '07 & left Dr Clarke in charge) would not have her on staff if she wasn't well qualified & capable!! If you are really concerned talk to her & tell her - there's nothing wrong with that. You obviously know how many surgeries she's done did you ask if there were any problems/complications? I have not heard of anything bad from that practice & I asked a lot of questions when I decided to go there. No fatalities the last time I checked. Also keep in mind her numbers may seem low because I remember her being out of the country for what seemed like an extended period of time dealing with a family emergency. Give her a chance - Dr Clarke wouldn't have her there if she wasn't up to snuff... I would think he doesn't want to add to his workload by having to fix other's mistakes!! Hang in there - you're almost there!!! You will do fabulously!! Cece

I had my surgery on a Friday and Dr. Ingram was on call that weekend so she followed-up with me all weekend.. Then when they thought I may have an infection Dr. C was on vacation so I saw her again..... All I can say is she is awesome... just awesome (as all are of the doc's in that office).. A friend of mine had the RNY GBP with on on May 9th and can't say enough good things about her.

It's normal to be nervous, but you're in very good hands...

omg thank u guys for answering me and giving me encouragemnt. i think im just scared because it is coming up so soon. i had a c-section before, and well that was 11 yrs ago, and i made it throug. i think im just really really nervouse. i have always been the type of person to either have a gut feeling thats says yes go ahead or NO dont do it type, and this time my gut is more like 85% do it. i never been a grey area person, i have alwasy been a black and white person, so this confusing way of thinking is very new and scary to me. but i have heard only good things, and to "phatty" Dr. Ingrahm said she dosent have any fatalities on her, except for a women in her 40's who died 30 days after having the surgery only because she had heart probs. but dosent the appt with the cardiologist say wheter a person can have surgery or not? so now im kinda iffy on it.  i know she dosnt have a lot of surgeries under her belt because she is in the army and she always gets shipped out, but im still nervouse. i know i have to have it done, or i wont get rid of my diabetes... does anyone know of anyone who had thier diabetes return after the surgery?

Nanette,

When a person is required to see a Cardiologist prior to surgery, the cardiologist is trying to ensure that the person's heart will be able to handle the stress of the anesthesia.  For someone with known heart problems this may be that their heart is in the best shape possible to undergo surgery, and the benefits of the surgery (ie weight loss minimizing the heart problems) out weigh the risks of undergoing surgery.

My friend Jenn had her and loved her.  This was in Feb!  She had been away in Iraq for a while... thats why she doesnt have as many under her belt.  But Jenn says she is amazing...Good luck!
