Hi all, I'm new here and am having surgery with Dr. Clarke of Ellis Bariatrics in less than 2 weeks....my question is if anyone here has had him, and what did they think? Thank you all in advance!                                           Amy

Amy, Welcome & congrats!!! I had Dr Clarke about 7.5 months ago & am very pleased with the results. He is excellent & I am glad I chose him. The only thing to keep in mind is that he is super-busy so unless you have a lot of complications you probably won't see much of him after you are released. You will likely see Evelyn and/or Michael, the PAs, both of whom are great!! A small price I'd say for his expertise!! God Luck!!! Cece

Cece,                   Thanks alot, this is my first surgery and I am really nervous!  He seems really great, and I love everyone I have met so far, they have all been really good at calming my fears. My surgery is 6/23 first one in the morning, so at least I won't be thinking about it all day!                                                   Amy

Amy, Just think, this time next week your only concern will be the upper gi (to test for leaks) & getting up to walk!!!! It is so worth it!! I too had my surgery 1st thing in the am!! Granted, I had to be up before god to get to the hospital on time & my poor brother who drove me had to get up even earlier!!! We survived!!  Check out my profile - I think I blogged about my experiences in the hospital!!! Everything went well & I was home by weds afternoon!!! Good luck!! You are in great hands!! Cece

Amy.. Congratulations and good luck.. I had Dr. Clarke and (((HEART))) him.. But as Cece said, post op you'll primarily see the Pa's. I didn't see him again until my 3 mo post op appointment and then I'll see him again in July for my 6 mo post op... He's awesome at what he does and yes, his confidence does have a way of calming your fears. You'll do just great under his care.

Amy,

I had my RNY by Dr. Clarke on 4/10/08 and he did my wife's RNY on 5/2/08.  We both feel the same way about him that everyone else has commented.  He took wonderful care of both of us and like Cece noted we have not seen him since he sent us home from the hospital.

The staff of the hospital were also all wonderful to us and I hope your experience is great also.

It is normal to get a little anxious when you get close to the actual date of your surgery, but amazingly enough I really never felt nervous on the day of surgery (I was scheduled for noon got to Ellis at 10:30 and was delayed until about 3pm due to an emergency surgery).  I just knew this  was the right thing for me and I was in good hands.

Even more important the question should be, what do you think about Dr. Clarke.  You should feel very confident that he is the best surgeon for you and a perfect fit for you, before you let him perform surgery on you.

Do you have any other questions about my experience?  If so don't hesitate to send an email.

Best of luck

Jim

Hi Jim! Thanks alot for writing me, I really appreciate it! I am very nervous, but I really like Dr. Clarke, and am glad I chose him. How long were you in surgery for? Also, how was your recovery? How long were  you in the hospital for? Lol I have alot of questions!  I did go to oreintation, but it helps to hear from people who have had him and gone through it. Also, I used to live in Ballston Spa, small world huh?                                  Thank You,                                        Amy
