Dr. Pomp, NY Presbyterian - any experience?

Hi - I was planning on traveling to NYC (from Boston) for surgery with Dr. Roslin, but it looks like that may not work out as the hospital he's affiliated with is not in my insurance network.  So now I'm looking for another duodenal switch surgeon, and I'm thinking about Dr. Pomp. If anyone has used him, could you tell me about your experience?  What did you think of his office staff, follow up, etc?  What about the hospital - did you have a good experience there?   Thank you so much for anything you can share! Melissa, I didn't have the DS, but I did have my RNY surgery with Dr. Pomp and I think the world of him.  I've found him to be highly skilled and empathetic.  I have also found the office staff to be great.  My hospital experience wasn't the best, but it was my first time in the hospital so it was rough all the way around.  There's lots more about my experience on my blog if you want to take a look.  Let me know if you have any other questions. Pomp and Gagner did my DS in April '05.  My profile discusses what I thought of them and it was good. I see him yearly now (as Gagner is in FL) and we have a good time together.  His support staff (nutrits.) are helpful and respond to questions in a timely manner.  He, sometimes, takes a bit longer but if it's urgent I'll call and say so. The other support staff wasn't as great (not the nutrits.) when I began.  They took a while to sort things out and kept me hanging for a while.  I had to push a bit b/c things just weren't getting done.

However, like I said.  The follow-up care has been very good.  Any problems I've had (and there have been a few) have been dealt with. I have my bloods done 2x/year and go over them with the nutrits.   Then changes are made to my vits/minerals.  You need to be proactive in this and call to follow up.  They're busy so they prefer you call to go over what the bloods found.   Anything else you'd like to know, feel free to PM me.
