I thought I would update everyone on my journey.Well I am two weeks post op and I can't believe the changes in my relationship with food. I no longer focus on what I can have to eat next and get excited about it. I now eat because I have to  nourish my body, food is not my best friend.I have now lost a total of 59 lbs and am looking forward to weighting in below 200 lbs soon ( 7 lbs to go).I am now starting to jog which I have not been able to do in a long time and IT FEELS GOOD!!!!! I have been jogging 3-4 miles a day. Most important I am no longer on my B/P meds. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!

I am very excited for you!  I am coming up on two weeks on Wednesday and have lost 15 pounds since the surgery.  I can understand completely what you mean about food is no longer your best friend.  I am getting to the point where I dread it because the protein shakes fill me up.  One of the things that surprised me the other day was when one of my family was heating up a pizza and I could actually savor the smell without feeling the need to run in and eat it.  I know, crazy, that's why it only happened that one time!     I see it the same as how it was as a kid growing up.  At Thanksgiving I'd smell the wonderful smell of celery and onions cooking as my mom prepared stuffing for the turkey.  I loved the smell but I didn't run out and want to eat it (ok, sure it's not the same as pizza, but hey, it was such a different feeling for me.).  I still have good  memories whenever I smell celery/onion cooking in butter.  I hope that's the way it will be for other foods eventually. Carol,I'm happy to hear that you too feel the same way.I think the only people that really understand this feeling are people that have been through the surgery. So many wonderful things to look forward to other then what, when and where is my next meal.Keep up the good work and watch the pounds melt off.Michelle

GREAT...sounds like you are doing well...and will continue to do so. It takes a whole new attitude about food.  I too think about what I eat now...does it have protein? does it have too much fat? does it have too much sugar?  I find that I don't want to eat "empty" calories anymore...which makes it easier to stick to the program.  YES, LIFE IS GOOD! Wow, 2 weeks out and jogging--I could barely make it around 2 blocks @ 2 weeks.   I think I was still taking some pain meds! It's amazing how differently our bodies heal, isn't it?  I'm SO happy for you, Michelle.  Keep up the great work.

Michelle, Congrats!!! You are doing awesome!!! I have found that the changes I am seeing mean so much more to me than the numbers on the scale!!! Don't get me wrong they're important too but I value the things I can do again more than whatever my weight may be!!! It's those little WOW moments!!!! Keep up the great work!!!! Cece
