Any one have 1199seiu insurance
their guidlines are listed on their website....personally i had a program that
made me take a seminar to meet surgeon then 3 nutritional counselings
another nutritional seminar and 2 followup weigh ins 1 month apart and a psych visit before
they would submit my paperwork. usually takes up to a week for approval
in my case it took 2 because they came back and wanted additional paperwork.
The longest of Journeys start with a single step
(90 lost pre-surgery)
I have 1199seiu and I was approved with little complications. There was of course the 6 month supervised diet and exercise, nutrition eval, psych eval, etc. but once all of that was done and sent to the insurance company I had no problem. It took them about 5-7 business days, but I think they have up to 10 business days to decide which is still alot better than some of the horror stories I hear about people waiting months to hear back from the insurance company. If you have any other questions feel free to let me know.......Good Luck!
I had revision surgery with 1199 on 4/9/08. As long as the procedure is medically necessary they will approve it. Meaning the letter that your doctor sends to the insurance company, it must state that the surgery is medically necessary. If you are trying to get approval the most important thing to do though is pray, I have found that when working with insurance companies you can't leave anything up to chance or the possiblilty that the person working on your case could be having a bad day, so pray and trust God that things will go in your favor! If I can be of any assistance let me know. Good Luck!!
I am from Long Island, I work for LIJ hospital and I am a union member. I had my surgery done at Long Island Jewish Hospital as well because that is the hospital my surgeon is affiliated with. My surgeon is the best, Dr. David Buchin, 516-233-3600. I am not sure where you live but he is located in New Hyde Park and well worth the travel! He participates with 1199 and his assistants are the best with working out everything that has to go to the insurance company. I really believe 1199 is fair and one of the easiest of insurance companies when dealing with approvals. Since I work in the hospital I deal with some insurance companies and I have to tell you that some of them will find any loop hole to make things hard for you. With 1199 as long as the surgery is medically necessary they will approve it (that's the key word
).
I'm here if you need me so let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
