Hi....I just found this Message Board, and have been looking for a support group in the Albany area. When and how often does the AMC group meet? Can I join although I didn't have my surgery at AMC? I'm also looking for a new Primary Care person. Thanks for the help. N P.S.  I had rny on 11/14/06 at Barix Clinic in Langhorne PA.......start wt 342, currently at 194.....down 148......(-135 since surgery)

Hi.  The AMC support group meets every other Thursday from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.  The next meeting will be this coming Thursday and everyone is welcome.  I'm not sure if you're looking for a general PCP or a Bariatric Surgeon for follow ups and related after care.   I know that Dr. Singh spoke at our support group a few months ago and said that he and the other physicians in the Bariatric program are always willing to help patients even if they'd had surgery with another doctor.  If you're looking for a general doctor then asking around the support group would be a good idea.  I recently switched my primary care doctor and do not have anything to base my opinion on yet.  There are a lot of people from this area that post on this board.  I'm sure you will get more responses. I look forward to seeintg you at support Group. Dominique

chosen, are welcome to attend the Ellis Bariatric Support Group meetings. We
have always been an open meeting and do provide documentation of attendance for compliance with different surgical program pre-requisites.  The meetings are run by Pamela Spicer and topics vary (based on the "Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients" and certified by Bariatric Support Centers, International ) and time is provided for small group discussion or networking time at the end of each meeting. The group often has speakers (Colleen Cooke - author, Dr Nydegger ) or special events (September's Walk From Obesity) and members are encouraged to sign up for the weekly email "Fit For Life" from the bariatric coordinator, Anne Jones RN. We have a wonderful network of professionals in the Capital Region who are dedicated to a good quality of life for post operative bariatric and lap band patients! It has been my pleasure to be associated with all of you and lend my continued support. - Pamela
